Kory: I ordered this to replace my new generation Braun that I had been using for about a year. I'd had it with the Braun, I wanted something more powerful. The new format Brauns are nothing like the older soap-bar shaped units. The new ones have so much less power, lack the pop up clipper, etc. They do work well and shave comfortably, but taking 20 minutes to shave my face over and over to cut everything was getting old! This Panasonic, IS LESS EXPENSIVE, and is far superior. This has the kind of power the old Brauns did, if not more, shaves closer than both the new and old Brauns, no irritation, and takes literally 1/3 the time to shave my face. I find the battery life to be about the same as the new Brauns (quite good). And having the integrated clipper again is awesome. No cleaning station with this Panasonic, but it is easy to clean per the instructions, and it does not take expensive fluid, nor does it require another item to take up space on the bathroom counter. Awesome shaver here!

Amazon Customer: First off, the caveat that I've only been using this razor for a week, so I am not yet adjusted to it. (Yes, that is a real thing -- don't judge a razor until you've been using it a month!) But ...

... it has been giving me the closest shaves since high school, consistently and easily, every time I use it. I have tough skin, and a relatively dense beard, and most razors I've used have done a solid job, but this one is fantastic. Cleaning is a breeze (though I confess I'm not the most thorough razor-cleaner ever), and ... well, I keep my razor continually at 100% charge, so I can't really comment on how well it holds a charge.

Still. This is, by far, the best razor I have ever used. Highly recommend.

untitledless: Shaver does the job in less than a minute for me which beats my precious Philips shaver hands down. Product feels premium with a nice heft while being comfortable to use and hold for a clean and close shave.
My only negatives are that the warranty not valid in Singapore and the cord is not compatible to the ones use in Singapore. You just need an adapter to circumvent that issue

GreysmokeGreysmoke: I bought this Panasonic Arc5 shaver after 10+ years of daily use of a Braun 8985. Here is my comparative experience after two weeks with the Panasonic.

The Braun was a well-designed, durable, and effective shaver. I retired it because (1) the fluid cleaning system had broken years since (it’s expensive to replace), (2) the shaver motor was becoming progressively louder, and (3) the battery would hold a charge for only two to three days. (Replacing the battery requires the use of a soldering iron. I still considered having it professionally done, but the cost of that, plus worry about the remaining lifespan of the motor, plus the high replacement cost of a cleaning system made doing so impractical.)

I chose the Panasonic Arc5 without a cleaning system. I believe such systems are less reliable than the shavers themselves, their consumable supplies are expensive, and it makes less sense to spend big bucks for a dedicated cleaning system when the Panasonic can easily be washed under the faucet. Kindle Customer: I bought my first Norelco in 1994 and loved it. Some years ago, I replaced it with a model 8240XL and also loved that one too. Both cut very well and the batteries seemed to run forever. On an impulse, I bought a model S8950 a couple of years ago, because the advertising depicted the swivel head as the greatest invention since the TV remote. This new shaver turned out to be a great disappointment. The cut was awful and after a while, the head fell apart and I had to replace it. The cut from the replacement head was so bad that I decided to buy a new head for my old 8240XL. The new head arrived and low and behold, the cut was even worse than the newer model S8950. I have now come to the conclusion that a senior bean-counter at Phillips Norelco has discovered he can save a few pennies by out-sourcing the blades to a cheap maker and the result is that the quality is now awful. So, buyers don't be persuaded by the reputation of Norelco and older reviews. Look at the current reviews and you will see what I mean. So far as I am concerned, Norelco's reputation is now dead.
