Matthew Peterson: I've been shaving with Brauns since 1989. Recently my series 5 hasn't been doing a very good job: the shave wasn't very close and it was leaving missed whiskers. So, I ordered a new foil. That solved the missed whiskers, but my shave was not as close as I would like. Did the screens change? Did my beard change? I dunno. Either way, the Braun is almost 10 years old, so I decided I should buy a new one.
I looked at the new series 5, but it no longer comes with a pop-up sideburn trimmer, so that was a deal breaker. On top of that, most of the reviews I read thought that the older series 5 gave a better shave. The series 7 got better ratings, but again, it no longer has a built-in sideburn trimmer. And the price of the series-9 was ridiculous.
One of the reviews I was reading said the Panasonic ARC4 was a hidden gem, so I thought I'd give it a try. Truth be told, it is kinda ugly and looks a little cheap. But, it shaves far closer than any Braun I've ever owned. I'd say it shaves an extra 6-12 hours more stubble than my last Braun (meaning between noon and 6pm, my face feels smoother than a fresh Braun shave).

evalulator: I dry shave only with this thing so if you're looking for wet shave review this isn't it. First, no electric razor I have ever used shaved close as a blade but this is a pretty good second place. The battery life is good (I've charged it a few times) and it has traveled across the US with me. Overall I am very pleased with the results. I have not used the auto clean function yet but I'll probably try it soon. I just open the top, knock the hair out and brush the unit out and it works great.

John B: This razor works well for me. I especially like how it’s easy to clean. The flip up trimmer is a good feature, preferable to me than having to add an attachment. The battery recharges quickly, I charge it when it’s below 40%. I find that it works best when I use it at least every other day, it doesn’t cut longer hairs that easily without going over the area several times. The shaver does a good job with little, if any, skin irritation. I’m giving it 4 stars because I don’t know how it compares to other foil shavers, since it’s my first one of this type. I’m happy with it, and it gives me a good shave quickly.

MB: I bought this becuase I used to have a Panasonic 5-blade shaver and replacement blades were so expensive. Compared with the 5 blade, this gets into corners better (a problem with the 5 blade) though does not cut quite as vigorously. Battery life is fine. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it and would buy one again.
