BrickPig: I've been using "buzz" (non-rotary) shavers for decades now. I've tried Braun and Remington. I've had my old Remington F5800 for almost 10 years, and have replaced the foil and cutters many times, using only genuine Remington replacement parts. I typically shave every day and my beard is not very full (although it seems to grow quickly). Recently I felt that my Remington shaver was not dong a very good job on my beard, so I started to shop for a replacement. I looked at Remington and Norelco shavers, but I read on a shaver review site that the "buzz" shavers (generally) shave closer than a rotary shaver. That same site recommended Panasonic shavers over Remington shavers. So after some searching on Amazon, I bought this Panasonic ARC3 Electric Razor.
The item came nicely packaged and came with an AC charger, a small cleaner brush, and a small bottle of cutting oil. I charged the shaver for an hour (per the directions) and then unplugged the charger to use the razor in cordless mode (because you can't use the razor while it is charging).

Paul Mathews: My nine-year old Panasonic Arc3 Shaver (model ES8103S) was no longer quite as effective given the age of the blades (yep, I was still using the original blades). I would have simply purchased replacement blades, however, the LCD battery level indicator was no longer functioning properly (moisture had finally breached the interior of the shaver and partially shorted out the display). Additionally, the power socket had accumulated electrical crust and was a bit wonky when a recharge was needed. So I decided to get a new shaver and, like my previous two, this was going to be a Panasonic since this is the only brand that works with my face (I've tried Braun, Remington, and Norelco and none of them give me as close a shave without irritation).
This LL41K model is yet another superb Panasonic Arc3 type shaver. While this shaver lacks the pivoting head of my previous Arc3, I've found that this makes no difference at all to the closeness of the shave or the maneuverability of the shaver around my face. The motor on this model is very quiet particularly in comparison to my previous Arc3 which got significantly louder as it got older.

I've used Norelco rotary shavers for 40 years, and this Panasonic does at least as good a job as the Norelcos with a lot less complexity.
You get about a week plus a few days of maintenance shaving with this unit, and because there's no indicator to tell you how much charge is left a beeping after shutoff is how you know it needs charging.
You can NOT use the shaver while its being charged like some others. It maybe be a safety feature
The cutting head is simple. Behind the screen a T shaped head with slots cut in it vibrates left and right, cutting the hairs as they enter the screen.
The bulk of the cutting happens in the middle of the screen where the larger openings are. Finer hairs can enter the smaller holes above and below that area.
I feel no grabbing or pulling from this cutter system. No redness or skin irritation.
To clean, you just put a bit of liquid...
