Braun Series 9 9291cc Electric Foil Shaver - The Best Electric Razor for Men

AverageJoe: I purchased this razor along with the cleaning station and extra cleaning cartridges in July 2019. I shaved everyday and loved the close shave that I got without any skin irritation. I put the razor in the cleaning station daily and replaced the cartridge containing the cleaning solution when the station told me to. I would give the razor 5 stars for shaving ability, ease of use and ease of cleaning. I have to rate the razor one star overall because, as several other users have experienced and noted, the wire foil came apart after just four months of use. Braun says that the head should last for 18 months. I ordered a replacement head from Amazon at a cost of over $40.00. I can only hope Braun cares about quality and develops a fix for this problem.

August 13, 2020 Update: The replacement shaving head that I have been using for the last ten months is still in pristine condition. I continue to get a close and comfortable shave. I am very happy with this razor! I removed one star because I am still not sure if the replacement razor head will last Braun's suggested 18 months.

Alejandro A.: I decided to buy this shaver after an exhaustive search for the best shaver. This was the first my first foray into the top-tier electric shaver. Previously, I have used the Philips Norelco OneBlade but it kept nicking my neck and the blade didn't last a lot of time (around 15-20 shaves before it started pulling). I have always favored a clean-shaven look but being ingrown-prone meant that I had mainly two choices: either deal with the pesky ingrowns reddening my face and neck, or sporting a 5-o'clock shadow to scruff which made my face feel like sandpaper. I decided to go with the latter and the infrequent full shave for an interview or important meeting followed by dealing with ingrowns later.

The Series 9 is great! It is expensive and it takes a bit of time to get used to it but it definitely gave me the closest shave I've ever gotten. After using the Series 9 for around 3 weeks, I have seen no ingrown hairs, no pulling, no nicking, and a nice clean-shaven look. I've used it only in the dry setting but I will try it with a foam or cream soon.

HoggTied: For having a job that requires you to be clean shaved everyday this a life saver! Upfront cost is high but quality is amazing.
Has great weight in your hand, it doesn’t feel like cheap plastic.
Has a trimmer to square up those side burns.
Comes with a nice leather travel case and cleaning brush.
The charging/cleaning dock is simple to use and isn’t an eyesore.
If you have to travel just hold the power button for 3 seconds to lock it so you don’t have to be stopped by TSA for vibrating luggage.
Fast charge but you don’t really need it battery lasts about 50 minutes. ( If your an everyday shaver like myself )
The shaver determines what kind of cleaning it needs on the led screen. ( eco, normal, and deep clean)
The cleaning liquid is alcohol based and has lubricant in it as well to keep those blades in check.
Manual cleaning is simple as could be. Just pop off the foil tap it a bit and brush away the excess hair.
You can use it wet or dry by selecting the mode on the shaver.

DKDC: As a lifelong blade-shaving purist / traditionalist, I feel like I’ve finally seen the light. I looked into getting this for quick shaves on the weekend so I don’t scratch up my new baby’s face, and I am surprised to say I am getting almost as close of a daily shave as I am with a blade, including as good as with a multi-pass wet shave, but without irritation and in less time. I can't believe I am writing this but I've basically given up on using blades any more.

My "tried and true" routine is- I prep with a preshave oil that I make myself (plenty of DIY recipes online, I use castor oil, olive oil, vitamin e oil, and hinoki essential oil, and since its cheap and easy to make I liberally apply), and then use Aesop’s neroli shave gel. The Aesop shave gel is very pricey but is crazy slick with minimal soapy lather so it is absolutely perfect for a wet electric shave, and the shaver is then super easy to clean - just a quick rinse. I finish with Kiehl's post-shave repair gel and a moisturizer (I use Hada Kabo hyaluronic milky lotion- it's inexpensive and outstanding).
