SunnySunny: I needed a new heater for my tank and I immediately ordered a name brand as I had purchased before. However, after I ordered I began looking around and I stumbled onto the Hitop and the reviews were great. I thought, hey - I am saving over half the money and cosmetically I love the look of it. Why not? Also, another thing that impressed me were the comments that the customer support was great. So, I ordered it and when my "name brand" came in I sent it back after trying the Hitop. It is "outstanding" and let me tell you the customer support was there for me. I did play around with the temperature; but, I had to do that on my expensive one. I wanted to make sure I had enough air flow and I sent them a picture of what I have attached here. They responded back - you set it up correctly. So, I am a happy camper as my fishies are. Hope this helps if you are deciding on spending a lot of money on a name brand or buying something that has "great" reviews.

Roger Elliott: This is a very good aquarium heater that seems to be indestructible. I am using it in a turtle tank right now and have had absolutely no issues with it so far, and turtles tend to be rough on anything in their environment. Easy to see temperature readout and easy to set. Also has the auto shut off feature if it is not in the water. Also a good size for the wattage rating.

Carly: Price couldn’t be beat and my turtle noticed the new amenity right away and seems to enjoy it.
Having it cranked up in the 70s it still feels not as warm as it should, I will wait until day to see if it brings the temperature up

Elliott Kurely: I have this heating an uncovered, heavily planted 40g tank. I have to set the temperature knob a little higher than my intended temperature though. For instance, I want my tank to sit at 24 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit) I can't turn the knob to 75 f, it has to be turned up to 86 degrees Fahrenheit in order to reach my desired temperature (my room temp right now is sitting at 18 c or 64 f for reference). It would likely be more efficient if it were in a covered tank.
HOWEVER, if you plan on using this to heat a 40g above these temps I think it might be pushing the limits. Would work great in a 30 gallon though.
It is rather large but the built-in cover is a bonus so it doesn't scorch your plants, fish or possibly decor. Suction is great as it's never fallen off the glass. The cups were a bit difficult to attach to the heather though.

Gorden: when I bought this heater, it was to replace one I had JUST bought on Amazon that was a more traditional glass tube style, It had great reviews, but a few said they exploded, well I know Glass ones can explode if you say plug in and putt in water when hot , or vise versa, so I decided to buy that one first, bad mistake, heater DID explode and almost killed my fish, so seeing this one I decided to try this new style (at least new to me) .. Now I did see reviews how some fish got stuck within the enclosure and died, which I agree is possible with smaller fish , I have a breeding guppy tank so I was somewhat concerned about this, my solution to this though was simple, first I tend to bury my heaters under gravel, well top level with gravel (not sure if its recommended so maybe don't do this) but also I simply used some PC air filters I have (which are plastic) and I cut them to fit the top, sides and back or the protective guard and with aquarium silicone simply tacked them in place, this way it prevents food as well as fish from being able to get threw the openings, without hindering waterflow too much, or at least doesn't seem to.. as well it prevents food from landing on the...
