My 5G heater works just fine, keeps it at a steady temp of 78-80, switches on & off perfectly fine on its own. My 6G on the other hand, it was faulty. At first it worked fine but then it switched to red & green on all the time. I was out of town for a few days and I came home to a temp of almost 100 degrees!! Insane. Thankfully I got a replacement heater and that one is doing way better so far. Even though I had a faulty one, I still give this 5 stars because not all of the heaters are faulty. If this changes though, I will update. But as of right now I really have no complaints! I would recommend!!

Oink Oink: it heats water. exciting stuff going on, i know.
about the thermometer it comes with:
the digital thermometer it comes with is so much smaller than what the pictures lead you to believe. its about as big as a quarter and a dime next to each other. in fact, i just measured it. its 2 and a 1/4" wide by 1 and a half inches tall and three eights of an inch deep. the actual screen size is 1 inch wide and three eights tall. it's TINY. but it seems to do the job. can be switched from Ferinheight to Celsius.

Jennifer Maxwell: I bought this to replace mine that went out and I needed it in a hurry so I didn’t do that much research. I feel like it works just fine, but I wish it was easier to read where the max water line should be and that there was an indicator light that it was on. That’s kind of something that I feel is missing from this but other than that it works. I will point out that the thermometer that comes with it is off by about 2 degrees compared to my other ones. I was concerned the temp was too high as it was reading 82.5 when I had it set to 79. That can be a big difference if you are keeping sensitive fish so having a thermometer that actually tells the correct temp is pretty important.

Indy Grandpa: The 4 Stars was given for several reasons, neither of them would rule out purchase of this item again.
TEMPERATURE CONTROL: Temperature is about 2 degrees warmer than the digital probe reads. NOT too bad. That said the 100 watt & 150 watt are priced the same. The carton had both shown wattage's shown, AND had a blank or "empty Check-Box" to ID the wattage. I ordered a 100 watt and I think I received a 150 Watt. Even when new, my previous 100 watt heater, seemed to heat the water slower than THIS on. (OK for me because I was slightly Under-Powered with a 100 watt in my 29 gal. tall tank).
SUCTION POWER: I found through the years of replacing heaters in an existing/and balanced tanks, ALL heaters with suction cups have never held very long. A NEW tank they might work better. (I am only guessing)
ACCURACY: I covered that at the top. Only 2 degrees warmer on mine, than what the dial reads. Not real far off.
JUST A HINT IN GENERAL: I usually set my new heaters just only a little higher the actual water temperature, AND THEN, then keep a close eye on your temperature as it raises.
You don't want to cook your fish, IF for any reason your heater when being assembled,...

harryjobs677: Used it for 5 years and no issue. I bought two before. The only thing to be improved is suction materials

Louis-Philippe Lacroix: Don't fight with the thermostat, get an external temp controller (like an Inkbird), 500W is way too much power for an internal thermostat, the heat of the heater turns it off before it can properly heat the water. If you don't have one you're effectively limiting yourself to using maybe half the actual power of the heater.
Other than that, works fine, been running for a month now.

Amy: Great little heater! I use this in my Fluval Evo 13.5 in the middle compartment. I tossed the suction cups as I didn’t need them. The cushioned bottom of the heater allows it to sit inside the filtration compartment no problem. Powerful enough to keep up with the heating of the tank with the AC running in the apartment. I have it paired with an Inkbird temp controller.

JD: I've been using this 200w heater in my 45 gallon reef tank for seven months. It heats the water well, and I'm happy with it. You do need to pay attention when you first install it to set the temp. The numbers on the dial aren't precise, so I suggest using this with an InkBird temp controller. I set the temp at what looked like 78, but it was warmer, so my InkBird cut the power. I had to make very small adjustments and then wait to see what temp the heater would maintain. After a few days, I had it dialed in to 78, and it's been perfect since then. As with any heater, you could overtemp or chill your tank if you don't pay attention while finding the correct setpoint. I highly recommend using this heater with an InkBird ITC-308S controller.
