Lil OneLil One: I've had this heater for a full year and overall, I'm quite happy with it.

The only reason for 4 stars vs 5 is it's bulkiness and unattractive look (see photos). Because of my hood configuration, the hanger for the digital readout doesn't fit between hood and tank rim. It's been secure just angled on to the rim (see photos).

I wanted an easy to control, easy to read heater at a reasonable price and this is it. For reference, the photos show it in a 20 gallon high tank.

The heater maintains temperature within 1 degree; unlike other reviewers I don't find the on/off "click" to be all that loud or annoying.

I live in a warm climate, so the heater is off for about 6 months of the year, yet I do leave it in the tank. The digital readout is great, that that's a nice feature to easily monitor water temp whether the heater is on or not.

Quite happy with this purchase after a year of use, and I've grown accustomed to its unattractiveness - function over form. :)

BenjaminBenjamin: So far it seems to be working. I like that it has a plastic cage protecting the glass from direct contact to the turtles. I do not have fish but I do plan to have plants in here soon so I will update this. As of right now it took about an hour to heat up 20-30G of water in a 75G tank from 72F to 78F. I wish it included at least one decimal but it works. As seen I have another thermo in the tank to measure the accuracy. It reads about 1 degree less. I have a mercury thermo in here too that reads 78 degrees. So on average it is about 77.7 degrees which is great! I love that the controls are on the outside of the tank and seems to hold well. It was suppose to come with 4 suction cups I only got 3 and the actual heater only has 2 slots so I assume the other 2 are replacements. Very happy I hope since this heater cost about twice as much as my normal ones (which lasted about 8-11 months) this one will at least last twice as long at 16-24 months. If its longer I will update this! For those worried about what most people think is corrosion is not corrosion its a build up of sand and other materials. The better your filter the less build up it will have. I recommend cleaning it once to...

chrischris: I had to order this because my heater quit unexpectedly. I like the heaters with the covers. I like to have my freshwater aquarium at 79 degrees, and for some reason, this heater cannot hit and hold that. I've included pictures. The product description says it's accurate within ONE degree; it is NOT! I first set it to 78 degrees, and it said it was 81! That's 3 degrees more! And my other thermometer registered 82.8 degrees! Just about cooked my fish! So I set it to 77 degrees. Its thermometer said it was 79 - but my other thermometer said 82! After a few days, finally got it close to what I want - I set it at 78, its thermometer says 78, my thermometer says 79.2. If you buy this heater, I highly recommend you have an additional thermometer in the tank to read the water temp.
