HiHoSteveO: I’ve always been a gel/razor guy but I thought I’d give an electric razor a try and Braun is always a solid state of the art player. I bought the 7 series because it had the functionality I needed and what crazy person spends $350 for a 9 Series razor? I’ve only used it a couple times but so far I really like the closeness of the shave and the speed and convenience. I think the Gillette Sensor is probably a closer shave but this one is dang close enough. I used it on a 3 day beard and it worked great. Close, comfortable, got into all the tricky areas very well, quick, held a charge well, cleaned up well with a brush and water. It looks great on the stand next to my Series 9 trimmer. It’s made of high quality materials, although not as high quality as the 9 series. I love the floating 360 head, gets all the whiskers. Carrying case and attachments are great too. Very satisfied so far. Bravo Braun!

J350ZRJ350ZR: I usually go for the cheap electric shaver at the local stores and kept it for 3-4 years. I’m now 43 and it’s time to really look after my face. After extensive research between this Braun and a Phillips. I decided to go with an automatic self cleaning shaver. This was on sale which is a bonus. After a couple of weeks of use I’m now thinking, how did I not get something like this sooner. I only use the self clean after 5 to 10 shaves and I don’t really have a heavy beard. At that time the battery still remains full but will keep showing the clean indicator. I will open and gently tap out the excess then do a clean. From the picture, the level of cleaning liquid is after 4-6 months with my process. The base will give an indication of low cleaning fluid as per manual which is the only down side. The manual is vague. As always I’m going to try and cheap out as much as possible and try to keep my cleaning fluid up but I have seen videos on how to DIY the cleaning fluid which I think is a must unless you’ve got the spare cash to buy new ones. Bronto154: I had a 7 Series for nearly 20 years. I always said I would keep using it until it went bad, but I fibbed a little in the end and replaced it before it went totally belly-up. It quit holding a charge about five years back so I just plugged it in directly to an outlet and continued using it. A few months ago the base quit cleaning. I manually cleaned it for a while but resisted a new razor. Eventually, though, I finally decided to get a new shaver. Since I still had two unused cleaning reservoirs and Brauns still used the same ones I already had in the cabinet, Braun was what I went with. I went back and forth with the 7 Series and 9 Series but the $80 difference did not seem justified for someone like me with a regular beard. I am pleased with the 7 Series I got. It shaves nice and close like my old one. I quickly adapted to the new shape. I kind of like the rocking shave head. I rarely used the pop-up trimmer on my old razor so the lack of one on this new unit is not a problem. I decided to start using pre-shave again and it seems to benefit a new razor with new blades. Paladin: So – the Braun Series 7 7071. First, it's recognizable as a Braun – very ergonomic, comfortable shape, rubberized “grippy" back, signature 3 stage head with two outer foils and a flat center cutter in a familiar Braun cassette. Cosmetically very similar, but that said, it's unlike any of the prior Series shavers that Braun has produced. Although touted as the “new" Series 7, it could be more accurately characterized as a “Series 10,” or a Series 8 if another shaver didn’t already occupy that slot (and the Series 8 is really just a modified 9). There is nothing else like it. The elevated 360 degree swiveling head and detachable trimmer are the signature features of this shaver.

Skipping to the bottom line if you want to bypass the details, it delivers a great shave, smooth and comfortable, as good as the older Series 7 (which was excellent) or the Series 9 (which some think is better). Whether it is better than either is completely subjective - for me, perhaps slightly – but the cutters and head (that actually provide the shave) are virtually identical to other Braun offerings, which by themselves are outstanding.
