Jonathan Young: I upgraded to the series 6 after my series 3 (which worked pretty well for nearly 3 years) finally died, and it’s a clear upgrade. The head smoothly follows the contours around my neck and chin, and it’s very easy to clean out once I’m finished - the “blade” pops right off for easy rinsing. The whole assembly seems to be less porous than before too - my series 3 would still have a lot of water in it after a rinse, while the series 6 handle doesn’t seem to trap any water. Hopefully, that will keep mold and any other nastiness from taking hold.

It’s also a very close shave. With my last Braun, and a Phillips before that, I’d finish shaving with the electric and then have to go over my neck and chin with a regular razor to finish cleaning up. With the S6, I’m smooth as a baby, except for three or four hairs on my neck that it just doesn’t want to grab. It’s also very sharp, no pulling.

The cleaning station is nice, you just rinse off all the soap and trimmings, shake/pat it dry, and then toss it in the cleaner. “But you just described cleaning it, before you put it in the cleaner…” well, yes. It’s more of a...

John W. Highmore: Close shave and not too expensive. No current Braun is built like the original Braun series 7 bu that is history now and this rating reflects current standards compared to other makes and other Braun shavers. If you have a very heavy beard you might consider the $300 Braun series 9 but the series 5 and 6 are very good for an average beard….fast and smooth and much much less expensive. The shaving head must be removed and replaced with a sideburn trimmer rather than a pop up trimmer…irritating cost cutting measure by Braun…my only real complaint.

Frash: I use this exclusively as a wet razor and have adapted my technique used with my double edged blade razor. I get a comfortable shave, and I am surprised by how close a shave I get. Of course I take my time and do repititions. I also use CeraVe moisturizing cream on my face before wetting my face. I believe this helps both comfort and closeness.

My only criticism is that the battery charge doesn't last as long as advertised, but on the other hand, it only takes an hour to charge, and the charge will get last at least a couple weeks. So not a big problem.

Don't buy their cleaning dock. A little soft soap and water followed by a drop of fine oil on each blade does the job very cheaply. Repeat once or twice a week. Amazon sells a fine machine oil that is safe for one's skin.

Rey Israel: El producto llegó perfectamente y es muy práctico y fácil de usar. Corta al ras y te quitas la barba en 3 minutos...lo único que no me gusta es que tiene el cabezal muy ancho y me elimina el vello en donde no quiero que lo eliminé. Aún así estoy satisfecho con la compra y la recomiendo.

Jon Warshawsky: I’ve been using Braun shavers for 30+ years, and bought this to replace my broken Series 7. After a week with the Series 6, I can recommend it. Best features:

1. Very light and compact. While the Series 7 has the built in trimmer for sideburns, you probably don’t use it everyday and it contributes to the shaver being heavy and less easily held. The 6 has a more slender, contoured and grippable design that makes it easier to handle.

2. Cleaning is easier. I should mention that I don’t use the cleaning/charging stand and fluid. Too much clutter and hassle when i travel. The 6 has a foil/cutting block that snap off and allow the cuttings to fall out. You can then brush out the top of the shaver body. The 7 could never be cleaned like this — you really need the fluid and stand. It’s too soon to make any predictions, but I suspect the 6 will perform better longer due to relative ease of cleaning.

3. Battery life seems good, and the three-LED indicator is accurate and easy to see.

4. It’s quieter than the 7. Not silent, but the 7 drowned out conversation or the morning news. Shavers always make noise, but the 6 is less disruptive...
