Gautam Natrajan: I have been enraptured by this series. Stellar story, characters and world building. Though I have a complaint about this book being mostly centred around Tal and his companions not getting enough page time and development compared to before.

Athena (OneReadingNurse): All the things I've said prior still apply here. I love the amount of story packed into the book of this length. I like how the characters are developing and at this point have accepted their quest.
Pim is an interesting character to bring in and I liked everyone we hadn't met yet. I also hope we get to see more of the Emperor in the next book. Ha ha yeah, why not make him a ... ?
The action is packed still and the book flies along. This is the first that I read as well as listened to and discovered the glossary. I love glossaries.
Can't wait to see how the story ends!

Amazon Customer: I loved the entire series of “Legend of Tal”!
The story is a simple one - no huge armies, no muscled generals, warrior kings ! But the story is of a simple man with a strong spine, moral values and integrity who journeys with his young apprentice and friends and who has a simple goal- to keep his friends alive!
It is a beautiful world of sorcery, magic in mount Ikvaldar, high and low Elandol and Hunts Hallow. The story sets an engaging pace and it is never ever dull.
The characters are likeable , each of them strong in their own way. The love between Tal and Ashelia is pure and honourable.
Garin sees the world through his own eyes and comes to understand what does it mean to be a “ legend” and the sacrifices one has to make on the path of becoming one.
I most certainly recommend J.D.L Rosell’s books.
I am excited and am going to read all the other series written by JDL .

Left Coast Guy: Well thought out story with compelling characters you find yourself rooting for. Definitely some huge obstacles and cruel villains, but our heroes continue to move forward towards their goals in spite of them.

Seeker: The story is one of wars ,deception,,valor and much death and destruction. This constant warring is an indirect effect of a entire world being controlled by evil and callous gods watching the people being killed and living in constant danger hoping for better times. The series if full of daring acts to change things for the better. A truly good read

Irishmanjake: So this is the third book in the Legend of Tal series which I’ve become fond of recently. I like how this book finally takes the characters East into the Empire of the enemy. There is a lot of development and exposition that gets covered in this book which has either been hinted at or mentioned. So it was nice getting to see some story points like that come into fruition. I also like that as the characters venture into the lands of the enemy, they find that it isn’t all what they had expected. Is there danger lurking around every corner? Sure. Are there mysterious characters with unclear motives? Definitely! Yet even with all of that there are still moments where the characters realize that not all those who live within the empire of the enemy are evil. Most of them are normal people who just want to go about their daily lives. So I like that this book addresses that aspect and sort of deconstructs many of the main character’s preconceived notion of the Empire. Also there’s just a lot of great character moments in this book. I’m excited for book four when it comes out and to read the conclusion to this enjoyable series.

Glen Davis: I'm still not convinced by the way the swings from hero to zero keep reoccurring. Sure, if you're trying to take down a God like entity there's going to be problems along the way. This is a bit like a video game where you succeed in a task to gain more powerful capabilities to go up to the next level. Then you get to the next scenario and can't figure out how to use your extra abilities or make much use of the ones you already had.
One example of this is how they battle through all manner of challenges to be reunited as a group only to get easily taken in a pretty basic ambush. This was due to the fact that despite being deep in enemy territory entering a narrow valley they were acting as if they were out for a Sunday stroll.
All in all though there's enough to give the next book a read.

C. Bray: This is another brilliantly written book, but paced slightly differently to those that come before it. It starts to grip a little later than with the previous books which grab you within the first few pages, but that is because it needs to give the reader some of the important information they will need to appreciate the rest of the book.
Stick with it for a just little while, and it soon reaches the stage where I could not put it down. I found myself making excuses to read more when I should be working!
I often get asked to review advance copies, but I actually paid full price for this book, and it was worth every penny - in fact for the enjoyment I got from it I would not have minded paying a bit more. For me to say that tells you how good it is as I am renowned amongst my peers for not spending money unnecessarily!!
I am really looking forward to the fourth and apparently final instalment, and will be setting aside the time to read it as soon as I get my hands on it!
