SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap is designed to keep your pet safe and secure in your home. This white cat flap is the perfect choice for cat owners looking for a reliable and secure entryway for their pet. The flap opening measures 4 3/4" (H) by 5 5/8" (W) and is equipped with a scanner that reads your cat's microchip ID for easy entry. This cat flap is rated highly for its build quality, customer support, design, and ease of installation. It can be installed in doors, windows, or walls and comes with an indicator light that flashes red when the batteries need to be replaced. PaulF: Very convenient to no longer have to open door for cat to come in and go out. Learnt to use the flap fairly quickly although it was initially put off by the noise of operation. Recognises RFID and operates quickly as demonstrated recently when cat flew through the flap to safety when it was pursued by a rival.
Deducted a star for weather-proofing. The draught excluder around the flap is inadequate and leaves a gap.
Apart from the draught, wind-blown rain can enter the lock mechanism and drip inside the door.

Riachuelo: We had a neighbour's cat coming in, frightening my two, eating food and spraying. After a few nights of manually locking my old cat flap at night I bought this one. It was a tiny bit smaller than the aperture on my door but we were able to fill in the gap. The flap itself is quite small but my two are slim so not really a problem. It took them a couple of days to use it properly. Last night was a true test, successfully passed. One of my cats was outside when the terrorist moggy attacked him. My cat shot in and the outsider tried to follow but got a bump on his head for his trouble as the flap locked tight against him. I'm glad I bought it. My cats know they have a safe haven at home at least.

The kittsThe kitts: The Sureflap microchip cat flap arrived very quickly and was well packaged. Everything that was supposed to be included in the package was there.
However it was not that easy to fit because one of the screws was the wrong size and wouldn't fit into the right slot so we had to replace that screw with one of our own, despite the other screw fitting first time. Therefore the cap that goes over the screw fitting wouldn't fit our own screw so we had to alter that as well. Not a great issue, more of a fiddle so instead of taking 10 minutes to fit into a UPVC door it took an hour. It looks very nice and it works although the cat flap entrance is quite small, my two cats are between 3.2 and 3.7 kg. Programming the cat flap was very easy to understand but forget the video where puss-cat guzzles the food gleefully and promptly goes through - no such luck. My two were not going anywhere near "that dreadful thing" and it was definitely a cat-eating cat flap. After about half an hour of positioning near the flap and gentle shoving so the microchip could be read and with mounds of treats they finally went through, then dashed out and "we're never going near that again". I had to go and...

JonJon: I have two cats - one is a bit of a bully and the other is the victim of his bullying. I use this door to give my female cat access to my utility room without my male cat being allowed in. This results in a better quality of life for her by giving her a private place with food, water, litter, and a bed where she can escape from the other cat for a while if he tries to start a fight.
The door does a great job at opening only for the cats it's supposed to open for. When she approaches, you hear it unlock, and it locks behind her just a second or two after she gets through. It would conceivably be possible for another cat to follow in the cat who is supposed to be allowed in the door, however the timing window would be tight and while it is technically possible, it's unlikely the other animal would act quickly enough to get in before it locks again. Installation into an interior wall was easy, I can't speak to installation into glass or an exterior door or wall - any of these are likely much harder.
I can't speak to battery life - I've had it for a couple months now and the batteries are still going strong. But the product works and works well. If you have a space that...

Judy MacArthur Clark: The media could not be loaded. Short version: Installation took about 30 minutes and the result is seamless. Training took about 30 seconds and our cat now thinks this is the best thing since canned tuna :).
Long version: I took our door off in order to install this and found the process very simple despite a less than ideal mounting location. Our door has a single large glass pane running almost it's full height with only just enough space at the bottom for the cat flap. In hindsight I should probably have measured this before buying the flap, but it ended up fitting perfectly! It is definitely lower than the manufacturer's instructions recommend (the bottom edge is supposed to be level with the base of our cat's chest while standing) but our cat doesn't seem to mind at all. The only real hiccup with the install was trying to cut the top edge of the hole so close to the window moulding which got in the way of the jigsaw guide plate. If you have a long enough blade then I'd recommend using blocks of wood to build up a level surface to slide the jigsaw guide plate over. Since our jigsaw blades were all only just long enough to get though the door in the first place, I...

On contacting the customer service desk, you will be politely provided with an assortment of top tips, to get the best out of your 'SureFlap Cat Flap with Microchip Identification, White, 21 x 21 cm’.
Adjust the screws, for fixing them too tight can be the cause of this problem. Still seeing no improvement?...
