My cats are small and only about 7lbs. They fit fine, but I could imagine some chonks out there might need a different option. Initially I was worried the door might not stay open, but it clicks into place nicely and I don’t foresee it accidentally shutting. Nice little lever to lock the door if I want to keep the cats downstairs while we do renovations!

VicksVicks: We got this door for our 2 kittens who have a litter box in the laundry room. Our large dog likes to get into the litter box (gross) so we needed to do something to stop that. I didn’t want a flap door because I don’t really like them and I was also afraid they would be scared to use it. This is nice and open and can also close and lock.
The only time we close it is when we feed the kittens wet food because our 14lb Malshi likes their wet food and tries to eat it with them. She does fit through this door so if you have a small dog, this wouldn’t work to keep them out. But she doesn’t try to get into the litter box so we don’t worry much about her.
I used the template to draw a line on the door and had my son use a jigsaw to cut it out (he is the one who took carpentry in high school, not me). We, of course, removed the door to do this (which is not difficult). He screwed both sides on the door and the little circle that holds the door knob and that was it! I could have done it, but power tools that cut things make me nervous. So I think anyone can do it if they aren’t scared of those types of tools.
It was definitely a great solution to our problem...

Stormy: I love this little door. I wanted a cat door but cringed at the thought of destroying my door. I looked at a lot of cat doors and was all set to to buy one until I read a couple reviews about injuries to cats using it. So I went with my second choice this on and I'm so glad I did this should have been my number one choice to start. First it was super easy to install and they even seem to have taken into account the ineptitude of some people with power tools so even though my cuts weren't picture perfect I was still able to easily install the door. I had some trouble with the stopper; the sticky tape didn't really stick but that was it. It operates just as promised and it a very cute addition to your door. My only complaint is I wish they offered a choice as to whether the little door opens to the left or to the right. With my setup it opens left and I would have preferred right but that's just a personal preference.

Michelle: I have two house rabbits and have placed this as their entrance to the understairs cupboard i have converted for them. I as worried that they wouldnt like it as rabbits are super fussy. They love it. Easy to fit and durable. Great product.

Louise MullaneyLouise Mullaney: Really please with this. I’d never used a jigsaw before but managed to install it by myself in under half an hour. It looks really cute and now I can put the litter tray in the downstairs loo without having to leave the door wide open all the time. Would buy again.

nyz209: Great way of allowing the 2 cats to be able to access our bedroom at night. Took a little to get use to for my scary cat but after a few attempts no issues.
So good we got another for our laundry door so the cats can access their litter tray and not having the door open reducing heat into the house during summer and cold out in winter.
Highly recommend

The OmnivoreThe Omnivore: Ordered two from Amazon Australia knowing this was a USA product but thrilled when it arrived in less than two weeks. Couldn’t be more pleased with the cat doors. Brilliantly designed and constructed, right down to the door open holder having a self adhesive backing to help you position it before screwing to the door. We have 5 cats of varying sizes and only our enormous Tom has so far refused to use it. Suitable for all sizes up to “I’m really a large raccoon” cat.
Installation is very easy and, beyond needing a jigsaw and a screwdriver, the hardest part is taking your doors off their hinges to make it easier to work on them. Our doors are typical “budget” hollow panel doors with a wooden frame and cardboard packing and the design of the cat doors works well even with non-solid doors as the bottom screws on each side go into the wooden frame. Where (and if) the top screw is simply going through a thin moulded panel just tighten slowly and gently. There’s no need to torque it up with any of the fixings.
The recessed screw holes; the soft rubber hole plugs; the open door holder …. everything is just so well thought of. It might only be a plastic cat door but...

DroMikeDroMike: My kitties are coming in a few months. For them, I was looking for an interior cat door or pass-through between my kitchen and laundry porch, where I'll be keeping my litter box. The smallish laundry porch has a second door leading to my driveway. I wanted to be able to stop access to the laundry porch on those occasions I am bringing in groceries or something from the garage, and don't want the kitties (they'll be two indoor-only Bengals) to be able to get out. I didn't like the idea of a door with a locking flap because should they believe it to be open as usual, and find I'd locked it, they'd bang their heads on it, or even not be sure about trusting it! I next then decided, heck, I'll just purchase a pass-through -- basically a hole in the door with a kitty template. That way, if I needed the pass-through blocked, I could just put a large brick or object in front of the pass-through and they'd visually SEE they couldn't get through. The problem with that is the hassle of moving the brick or large object.
I just saw this on a video from the folks with Kona the Bengal. The woman was rightfully giddy about how unique and different this was, and I liked its looks and...

BibliotekpigeBibliotekpige: The cats' litter box is down in the basement and this allows them to get to it without having to have the basement door open.
Installed this on my daughter's bedroom first because the cats would scratch to get in at night. She's very happy with them being able to come and go but her door can be closed.
Not too difficult to install. I'm not the handiest but I managed to do it twice :] Hardest part is cutting the opening out of your existing door, which I did with a hand saw and without taking the door down like the instructions say.
