Ideal Pet Products Plastic/Deluxe Replacement Flap Pet Door

Kevin Ross: We'd had purchased the Ideal Pet Products Dog doors well over a decade ago. We have two of them and the flaps were the original ones that we would clean from time-to-time, but as I'm sure you can imagine, having two dogs in and out several times a day will put eventually cause these to tear over time...Mostly at the top where they are bolted/screwed in. The original ones held up for about 8 years, and the last few we taped the tops of them, and just by chance I looked here to see if they just sold the replacement flaps, and I'm so thankful they do.

You can find the dimensions on your current (old) flap at the top and if you have the dog/cat doors from Ideal Pet Products, then you should be good to go.

mapsy: We have four dogs (two of them are big.. over 70 pounds each), and three cats. They all use this door, If you say the word Squirrel, they charge through, often two trying to squeeze through at once. I can't imagine any home getting more action through a doggie door. It's sturdy and works well, Eventually after 7 years, we have to replace the flap. But it is a small price to pay for such convenience. It washes up easily with a soapy sponge. No reason to pay more, this flap is great.

mnakamu: Wow! This replacement flap fit EXACTLY to my 12 yr old X-Large Ideal aluminum door. The old flap finally tore, so I had been looking for an entire new door. I really didn't consider that a replacement flap would fit, given the age of my door and the constant changing of designs of products.

I took off my old flap, measured to be 10-1/4" x 15-5/16", and while I believed the width wasn't a problem (because I had some visible gaps on the sides), I was concerned it would be too short height-wise. I guess the height dimension given is only the actual opening, not the portion of the flap where it connects to the top. On installing it though, it was a PERFECT fit.

The only problem I had was that the flap was nice and clean, and my dog saw her own shadow, so it took a quick re-training to get her to come through it!

Great job Ideal for maintaining consistency of your products for all these years!

Two Als: We now have a 3 dogs that use the flap several times a day. Our newest dog is now a 70 lbs bundle of high energy and when she decides to go out, she literally dashes and crashes through the dog door. She is giving that flap quite the workout. As a result, the flap did not last the 10 years that the previous one did. In our very cold Manitoban climate, we got 2 years out of good service out of it and we're happy with that. I will just install the new flap and keep enjoying the sight of our 3 dogs going in and out all day. Great product at a great price.
