Joe Cronin: The translator is quite accurate translating English to Chinese and vice versa. Even my Chinese friends have been impressed. It is easy to use and portable. So, should be a 5 star review... But there are serious problems.

I was surprised that the translator has to be connected to a wifi source. The manual claims this is necessary for the AI to function. I'm not a tech expert, but I don't understand why this would be the case. This is very inconvenient if you are traveling and in an inconvenient or emergency situation, which is what I thought was the main purpose of a portable translator. The voice recognition tech is inconsistent depending on the wifi signal, making this very frustrating.

The battery runs out quickly and takes a long time to charge. The charge chord connection feels cheap and flimsy, not at all like the smooth insertion of an iPhone charge cable for instance.

The lowest volume setting is still quite loud. And the woman's voice is so irritating! At least to me. She has the most grating, snobbish Chinese accent and it drives me insane. You should be able to choose between a man's and woman's voice, or make the woman's voice...

Jessica: My boss bought this for us for work to use since we are a treatment facility and all staff speaks English. we utilize this to translate in groups and for individual sessions for clients who speak a different language (currently we have a Punjabi client who speaks Hindi) and it is working well. It breaks the language barrier so ANYONE can seek treatment for substance abuse and alcoholism regardless of their ability to speak english! This product has been working very well for us except we need a compatible set of earbuds in order for our client to listen in a group setting without the device translating out load disrupting group for other clients. So far this is a really great product. Best advise I can give is not to speak super loud up close into the device. You hold it in your hand and speak regularly and it works really well. Over enunciating and speaking loudly into the device makes it so the device can not translate.

Phoenix🐶Phoenix🐶: Really love this translator. It’s very well made good quality and packaging. Cute design and nice size to hold in hand. Looks and feels fancy, even gives out a high end electronic product smell. I previously own one that’s similar to this one from a different company, my toddler dropped it on the floor once and it broke easily. This one seems more durable, my toddler has been playing with it and it’s holding up.
It’s easy to use without reading the instructions, you can figure out everything by just going through each options it shows on the screen to set it up according to what you want and need. For voice translation just press the blue/red button according to the language it’s set to when speaking then release to hear/see the translated result; For photo translation just take a photo, after the result is shown, spread 2 fingers to zoom in (like how you use iPhones) to read if it’s too small and zoomed out on the screen.
I like that it also comes with a nice carrying neck piece that you can use the device with it or release the device from it by just pressing the button.

maddog: I don't know why I got the garbage, but I went through two units and they both didn't work at all. When in voice translation mode, pressing the button and talking into the unit only resulted in an error message that it hadn't detected any voice. I returned the first one as defective and the second one did the same thing.
