Get yours in black today!Jason: It works in the sense that it does recognize your voice and translation is accurate. The problems are the Wi-Fi connection and the phone app. It wouldn't recognize my Wi-Fi to update the software and some Wi-Fi connections weren't allowed to be used by the device. It also doesn't verbally voice back every language that's on the list which was disappointing. The only languages you can download for offline use are English to Chinese, Korean, or Japanese. It's a great concept and has potential but I don't think it's worth the price at this time.

Kegan Montgomery: I work with a wide variety of languages in two separate jobs and the device does its job and looks professional, but the app itself and the connection to the device isn't the best. The app has to be on and constantly running for the translation of anything other than the three offline options to work which isn't a big problem, but if you accidentally close the app it still displays as running in the background. The translation device itself gives you an error message and when you go to reconnect it will tell you everything is paired, but continue to tell you that there's an error. I end up having to turn off the device and force stop the app to get it to function right. The device is great looking and does work well, but the app and functionality need improvement long term.

Bill: The seller is very responsive. My first order was mistakenly returned as “undeliverable” by the post office. The seller double check with me my mailing address and so advise its shipping department. I received the second package without any issues. The translator is apparently very well made and nice looking. It feels solid ad fits well in my hand. The battery is quite good for its size. With support for over 70 languages, it is perfect for international travel especially if you like to backpack or to mingle with the locals. I wish it will have more popular languages for download soon so that I don’t need connection with the app all the time. I have tried a few languages with my friends who are fluent in Chinese Mandarin, Cantonese and Spanish. The translation is usually accurate although sometimes it is a bit formal rather than conversational. I understand the manufacturer is working on its software, maybe with more refinement, it will work better soon. Nevertheless it gets the work done at this time. I can’t wait to bring it overseas when this pandemic is over. It gives me the confidence to wonder out of the typical tourist spots to really see the lives of the local...

Ramblin' ManRamblin' Man: The new CheetahTALK Translator has undergone a nice upgrade from the previous model. First off, there is now a touch screen located at the top part of the device, the previous model had no touch screen. There are three "swipeable" pages (as shown in the screen shots): the first is the settings page which allows you to control the volume, brightness, and a few other things, second is the chosen translation languages page which also allows you to modify the languages you want to translate between (which you can also do in the app), and the third page shows the last spoken word/phrase and its translation. The touch screen was very responsive and easy to use as well. This model, like the previous one, requires a Bluetooth connection via a mobile phone with the CheetahTALK app installed and it worked fine with my iPhone 6S. As you can see in the last screen shot, the app keeps a running tally of all translations, instead of just the last one on the device, but they can all be cleared via the settings option in the app. Translations worked well given my limited German and Spanish speaking capabilities. Once you pick the two languages on the device or in the app, all you have to do is...

BearBear: I purchased this translator before I moved to Panamá to help me with day to day conversation and to help me learn the language. The device is hit or miss and always defaults back to Chinese when it’s having issues. You have to have your phone with you at all times and can’t go “off grid” because Spanish is not supported only Chinese, Korean and Japanese when no wifi is present. The display is only in Chinese so it makes it difficult if you get an error message see photo. I opted for the $200 model as it allows two way conversation but it has a hard time deciphering sentences in Spanish for some reason. I also cannot find the Cheetah talk app in Android which is frustrating since I switched platforms. All in all it was a waste of $200 because it’s unreliable, it is funny to say something in English and have it come out in Chinese as the expressions on peoples faces are priceless. It’s almost like a Monty Python episode when he has a translation book which is all wrong!
