enbrightened: We needed a shower chair for our family with people ranging in size ip to 275 lbs. Our previous shower chair was great but after having it for almost 10 years, it was starting to get wobbly and had to go. So we bought this as a replacement. It was important to us that it be heavy duty, just for an added feeling of security, so this one rated to 500 lbs is perfect. There are no wobbles at all and it gives the security we need! It came assembled and it was easy to set the correct height. The seat is wide and comfortable and the legs fit perfectly in our standard size bath tub. It's also not as bulky as other heavy duty shower seats, so it can be pushed to one end of the tub, leaving enough room to comfortably stand. It is also light enough to be easily taken out of the tub. I like the notches in the side for our hand-held shower head, so it can be used while shaving my legs. We aren't at the point in our lives where anyone in our household has to always sit in the shower, but it is nice to have a sturdy, lightweight seat for when it needed.

Dr Willy:
This product is competently designed, built using quality materials and is deliverered fully and robustly assembled. For example, the cross-braces make the stool rigid, sturdy and stable and vitually certain to be immune to unexpected collapse. WELDS (in addition to screws) secure and rigidize the cross braces to insure lasting strength. The seat is broad, stable, and comfortable.
Read the 1-star reviews of competing models at the same or slightly lower price points and you will discover a distressing incidence of dangerous and unexpected collapse. I have provided one such review for an Amazon product without leg cross braces and held together with wing-nuts. Imo, such products are dangerous and i regret my first purchase.
Read the 1-star reviews for the Nova model and you will find a few reports of cracks in seat plastic developing after lengthy use. Nova warrants the frame for 5 years and the replaceable plastic seat for 1 year. A replacement seat is available, free in warrantee and for modest cost after a uear.
Personnally, I would a lot rather risk a slight scratch on the a$$ than a broken neck.

Samantha Ashe:
First off, this isn't my first bariatric shower chair. I've had several. They do break eventually... but the reviewers saying THIS chair broke immediately must have gotten a defective product. Instead of posting that it broke immediately and marking it one star, why not do a refund through Amazon, people? It's free to ship back, and where I live in this dinky small town, UPS will even pick the box up for me the next day. All I have to do is get it ready to go back. No need for one-star reviews on defective products.
Second, thanks to a rather severe knee injury on top of back and hip issues, showering standing is no longer an option for me. It's dangerous. Slipping and falling and re-injuring what's already ripped and torn is bad. A shower chair like this stops that from happening. Well worth the money. This chair's comfortable, small enough for my shower and strong enough to hold me. I can't use the handheld shower head holding notches on either end of the seat, but that's fine. I have a suction cup holder on the shower wall. Plus a really long ten foot hose, bwahahahah!!
Third, this was offered with expert assembly for some fool price in the...

Lightspring2000: This bariatric stool/bench is better than the one with the back and arm rests. I say this because I had that one and used it for a few months and suddenly it literally crumbled under me and I fell backwards, hit my head on the wall and was very sore all over. Recently, I bought this bench and it is great because the cross bars add reinforcements. I feel quite safe on it. I am very pleased with this bath bench.

Sylphae: I have MS, and I'm overweight. In 2018 I was hospitalized for a pretty severe illness. My MS gives m muscle weakness, particularly in my legs. After coming back home, I had trouble standing in the shower long enough to take a shower. I'd seen shower chairs before but I knew I couldn't fit in one of those things. I'm 5' 10" and around 275 lbs.
I saw a shower stool in a drug store one day, and thought it would be my solution. It said it held up to 300 lbs. I don't remember the brand name, it was one of those things you find in drug stores.
But it did not. The first time I used it, the screws holding it together started slipping. It was kind of like a folding chair, the legs were crossed, and it started getting lower, and lower.... I had to get someone to help me up. We tightened the screws.. and it kinda held for a short time. But I had to tighten the screws every time i used it, and it broke after a few uses.
After searching online, I found this one. Thinking if a stool says it can hold up to 300 lbs but won't hold my 275 lbs, one that claimed to hold 500 lbs should.
2 years later, I'm still using it. It works perfectly. I use it every...
