pennreporter: They’ve changed the actuator lid from previous model and a tad bit harder to turn to activate. Aside from that it’s good.

Kindle Customer: I think it takes a little longer to grind up food than the 30 year old InSinkerator it replaced but it still gets the job done. And it's so much quieter. I gave it 5 stars on Easy To Install because I hired my plumber to do it. He's replaced hundreds in his life. It took him about 45 minutes to remove the old and install the new one. It would have taken me almost that long just to find the right screwdriver.

Our old batch processing Insinkerator gave us excellent service for over a decade and recently stopped working. We bought the latest equivalent model and find it to be much improved. It's a lot quieter and the stopper has been redesigned, using magnets to activate the grinder rather than physically closing a microswitch. The new stopper is more effective at keeping water in the sink when necessary.
We installed the new Insinkerator using the old holder that was already in place and following a tip, used the jack from our car to raise it to the exact height.

Janet C.: This has been a replacement of a 10 year old Insinkerator cover control garbage disposer used in our kitchen sink. The quick attach collar makes this an easy machine to change /install . This new model works efficiently and is much quieter than the previous machine . I would fully recommend this make and model.

Dennis S.: Replaced an older PRO-17. Great price compared to other sellers and local stores. Easily connected to the existing collar. I needed to redo a bit of the drain piping due to the unit being a little wider. Very quiet. A good unit overall.

We bought this to replace a noisy 13-year-old 1 HP Waste King batch-feed unit whose circular mounting ring snapped from corrosion and left the unit half hanging from the plumbing connections. Other than the noisy operation, the Waste King was sturdy and trouble-free. However, the corrosion problem worried us. So we looked for another brand of batch-feed unit and our plumber mentioned the InSinkErator, and its little brother, Badger. My better half is partial to batch-feed disposers because they are safer: The cover must be place and is used to turn the unit on, so no chance of it being accidently powered on with a hand inside the unit. This from raising 3 very inquisitive toddlers. True, the batch-feed units are more expensive, but to our mind the safety aspect overrides the cost.
Installation by our plumber was straight-forward and it connected readily to the existing drain line and our dishwasher. We used the new InSinkErator tail-pipe and sink flange that came with the unit. The electrical connection was via a wall-switch that powered the outlet under the sink. The wall switch wasn't needed but our home was built to accommodate a...

Delivery was as expected from Amazon, fast and reliable. Product is very heavy duty and of very high build quality. Once installed, the unit is as quiet as I have heard a waste disposal be, and the function of the magnetic stopper is excellent. Not only does it provide way more safety (we have two young boys so this was key for me) but it just works great, once you get used to the mechanism and how it 'feels' when it should be on & running.
The general urge is to push it down tight into the whole and turn it but you quickly realize there's a knack to it and it's not designed to go all the way down. The stopper doesn't plug in all the way and you need to start it at about 5-to the hour and turn it to 12 to engage it and make it turn on.
I noticed other reviews which complained that when the stopper's in water can fill up in the sink. That is true in the sense that, as with a normal sink stopper, if it is fully pushed down it doesn't let water drain. However, the design of the stopper, when in 'functional' mode, is that it sits up slightly from that position and allows water to freely drain down either side of it, which is an excellent design...

L: This is a great product once it is installed and running properly. it is exceptionally quiet and does what it is supposed to do quite well. However, it took 3 visits from the installer to get it going correctly. The first model sent to us was obviously defective - wires frayed, parts missing. it never worked and was returned to Amazon. The second model was sent promptly and worked properly as a disposer. However the dishwasher drain was attached to the disposer and the dishwasher could not drain properly into the new InSinkErator because there was a plug of some sort in the InSinkErator blocking the drain. Another visit from the installer popped the blockage and we have had no problems since except for having to pay for three visits from the installer.

F.R.: Quietly disposes of your food scraps. I like the activation when you cover the drain - no switch needed and maximum safety. So far it has worked great.
