Tyson: I recently picked up the InSinkErator Badger 5 Garbage Disposal 1/2 HP, so here are my initial thoughts:

Performance-wise, this thing handles the daily kitchen scraps quite well with its 1/2 horsepower motor. It swiftly grinds up food waste, keeping the sink clear and reducing the chance of clogs. So far, so good in that department.

Durability is a big question mark for me since I haven't had it long. But it seems sturdy, and I hope it holds up well with regular use. Fingers crossed!

Installation was a bit of a learning curve, but I managed to set it up without too much trouble. It fit into my existing setup, but I can see how some might prefer professional installation for peace of mind.

Noise-wise, it's not whisper-quiet, but it's manageable. The SoundSeal tech helps keep the noise down, which is a relief.

As for maintenance, I don’t know of anything that needs to be done periodically, but I have heard that running cool water through it after use helps prevent buildup down the line.

The only negative that I can really think of is that it does not come with a power cord in the box and has to be purchased seperate.

A. Casey: Great model, quiet and easy to install over the previous model from this company. Only odd thing is that I cannot determine of it is running clockwise or now. I even reversed the wires and still looks the same. Could be that I am losing it a bit ;-)

If you have the previous disposal connected to the drain hose from you dishwasher, ensure you pay close attention to popping out the plastic piece on this unit, before connecting to the drain hose. It is explained in the directions.

EA Swift: This is an exact replacement for the one that came with our house. The old one lasted over 10 years, but started leaking.

Installation was a snap and I didn't have to modify anything with the sink, power line or drain line. The original stuff just fit perfectly. It does require the power to be turned off and connected with wire nuts, so some might want a electrician or handyman to do it.

It works perfectly and we use it every day.

Alanna: My original one died as I assume it was the original when the house was built 2016. We got the same one only newer so we didn't have to reinvent the wheel. My husband said it was an easy install and he didn't even read the instructions, he did however forget to hook the dishwasher back up. He needed to fix that. It's not super quiet but I don't expect it to be, while the water ran it sounded like what I expected just like the last one. It was reasonably priced especially since I saw it locally for more than I paid with Amazon. It works great.

BDC: Easy install. Added a cord and the new disposal fit the existing sink connection. The plumbing discharge was in the same location so there was no need to modify anything. Much lighter than the old 444 that lasted an exceptional 20 years before developing an internal leak.
