NP: Less Noisy than my previous model, hopping to last this longer,
Only thing that, it has removable rubber cap on top ( In sink ) must be used and easy to loose it and large piece can drop in. As Safety I would prefer better option.

Broken: My garbage disposal began leaking a few months ago. It was a really slow leak, so I felt I had plenty of time to research garbage disposals and find a good replacement rather than run out to a home store and buy one on an emergency basis.

Essentially what I read was that there are two main competitors in the garbage disposal market; In Sink Erator, and Waste King. The Coke and Pepsi of the garbage disposal world if you will. There are others, but nobody drinks Tab so just stick with the big boys.

I previously had a Badger Plus 5/8hp disposal (an In Sink Erator brand commonly found at home stores). Not the top of the line by far, but not the cheapest entry level either. I was very happy with it, but after about 8 years it lived its life. The 1/2hp Waste King seemed to be the same price point ($80) so I was eyeing that one, but when the full 1hp model went on sale for the same price I jumped at it.

So my review here is not just a review of the Waste King product, but also a comparison to the Badger/In Sink Erator brand. Both are good items with pros and cons, so here it all is so you can determine for yourself what is right for you.

igen: Summary: I was really wanting to buy InSinkErator's top-of-the-line model, but ended up getting this one when it was featured as an Amazon Gold Box deal. I had a lot of concerns prior to purchasing and installing the Waste King L-8000, but the only one I think most people should worry about is the height of the unit.

Pros:
- super-easy install (if you have an old 3-bolt mount, that's also easy to remove)
- if you already have PVC pipe under your sink, this will probably only take 30 minutes to an hour
- significantly quieter than my old InSinkErator 333
- lifetime warranty

Cons:
- rubber gasket is only for stainless steel sinks, so you'll need to have plumber's putty on hand if you have any other type of sink
- very tall, at about 18.5"--probably taller than your old garbage disposal
- plastic flange might not last
- chrome finish wrapped around top of flange looks cheap & tacky, especially with "Waste King" and a crown picture engraved in it right-side-up and upside-down
