It also acknowledges when a bird gets within range, but I do have it nearby a tree. The 35 choices of tunes cover a wide range of music.... not easy to choose just one! Was not the easiest to program... instructions were lacking, but at 75 years old, I did it! I have noticed that sometimes it does not pick up on a white vehicle, especially if the sun is shining more directly on the side the sensor sees. Initial batteries have so far lasted almost 2 years. I would recommend it.

MrM: Put this on our drive way which is about a block long. Our mother lives alone and loves it as it lets her know if someone it driving or walking up the driveway.
Only drawback is it picks up wildlife.
Would and have recommended this item.

Amazon Customer: I bought two of these so I could have an alarm in the shop and in the house and two alarms along the driveway. There are a few false alarms from time to time, but I kind of expected that with this technology and it isn't a problem for me. Overall they work great. The tone options are kind of tinny sounding but they work good. Personally, I would recommend this unit.

Amazon Customer: The original driveway alarm was not up to standards as it only worked about 70 percent of the time, but the company stood behind their product and sent me another. It now works an intended. I would deal with this company again.

sloreen: This is the first drive alarm I have purchased and so far it is working great. The alarm had to be solar powdered and be able to transmit at least 1/2 mile to receive notice in the house. So far so good! I like the variety of tunes you can select for notification of activity in the drive, activity being anything from cars to deer to peacocks. The only downside is the battery life, 2 weeks maybe, that said you can keep it plugged in. So if it holds up in the winter (no snow here, but cold) and I get 2-3 years service I am good. So it does what it says.

ATC123: I liked the unit and it has just been installed so I cannot comment on how robust it is or ability to withstand snow/cold weather. However, one thing that I can comment on is the range. My laneway is straight and a surveyed 650 metres (0.4 miles) from where I put the sensor to where the receiver was. It did not work. It was a line of sight from the sensor to the receiver so it was not an issue of trees, buildings etc interfering. I then took the receiver and kept walking to where it did work and it was at 610 m (0.37 miles). So it is not a 1/2 mile unit but more like 0.4 or a bit less unit. I like the appearance and the ease of set-up was good but the range is definitely not as advertised. It has been in use for a couple months now and it is still working. It is somewhat sensitive when it comes to adjusting the angle to get smaller vehicles like sub-compact cars.

RON-LRON-L: Update, April 17, 2022. Yes its still working, we really like
This unit. I did move it from a tree to our mailbox post. The tree had grown around the mounting plate, so watch out for that. I keep waiting for the battery to stop taking a charge, but it's doing great. Still recommended!!!
Update, May 1, 2021. My driveway alarm is still working great. I have had 0 problems with it. It still charges and works like the day I installed it.
I would still recommend all the HztZsafe products (I have several)
This review is for HTZSAFE Solar Wireless Driveway Alarm System-1/2 Mile Long Transmission Range-Solar Powered. This unit works almost to well. Care must be taken when installing this unit. It has 3 ranges 30, 40 and 50 feet. If installed where there is motion beyond what is intended, it will also pick this up and send an alarm. The unit will pick up moving branches, shadows, reflections, headlights. In the attached picture, you can see a car going by, also where the sun has reflected from it onto the neighbors RV. The sensor unit would pick this up as motion as the reflection traveled down the RV. In the same manner it would pick up a cars headlights shining and moving in...

Geekgurl36: I live up a long private driveway that shouldn't get a lot of traffic, but alas, we do. I get a fair amount of deliveries and then lately, I've been getting people showing up asking if my house is for sale. It drives me crazy to not know if there are people outside my house so I bought this awesome device. it took some back and forth but I finally got it set up perfectly.
It has a wide arch for it's sensor field. If I just point it straight at my driveway, it will alert when anyone drives down the private drive. So I have to turn it just a bit towards the house. I've only had it miss one vehicle coming up my driveway and I've never had it go off when there wasn't a car.
There are a LOT of ringtones. I chose the first one for mine. I wish there was just a simple "ding" or "beep" to choose from instead of the long "dinggggg donggggggg". But I guess they really want you to know that the thing is going off. Trust me, you'll know that it's going off. There is no volume on it and it's LOUD. I had to put it in the back corner of my living room just so it wasn't so darn annoying whenever someone drove up the driveway.
If you need an alert system, this is a great...

J.G.: The unit works fine when there is adequate sunlight (late spring and summer), but fails to work through the night and early morning. The power system (solar cell and/or battery) is insufficient to keep the sensing unit working through the night during decreased periods of sunlight, either cloudy days or the shortened days of late fall and winter.
Sensitivity is good but with out longer operating times it is inadequate for our needs.
I will be shopping for an alternative unit with a more robust power system.
