Keo Hilihili: We ordered 2 sets, total of 4 units. We haven't actually installed them yet because they require my daughter be away from home while the are being put in place. They are for her, and she will be the recipient of a little white lie borne of purest intent.
See she was the victim of a terrible crime, several crimes really, all at the hands of her kidnaper, two years away from us, from those who adore her, we grieving every minute of every day. We had no way to learn of her whereabouts nor whether she was alive or dead. Alex Mounsteven: i'm reno'ing my house and we've had a few break-ins... and incidents of neighbours dumping their trash on the front lawn... b/c the house is under construction we don't have internet - so regular cameras won't work... this fit the bill perfectly... since putting up the cameras - the incidents of ppl dumping trash has disappeared... and there are no more thefts... win/win for me!...

Connie: One of the cameras in the 2 pack didn't work, light didn't come on after battery installed, but Amazon took care of it without our having to return both and gave us credit to purchase a single camera, helpful since we already installed the other one. The fake camera was recommended by police and some friends that used them in a place without wifi for real-time surveillance. It looks real but is actually quite simple using low quality materials. But the quality doesn't matter as long as it looks good from a relatively short distance, which it does. Low price makes it easy to replace if we need to. The signs are important according to police, you want to make it clear that the area is under video surveillance. People are not likely to stare into the camera to see if it is real at risk of getting their picture taken.
We have had the camera up for 2 weeks now and batteries are going strong but didn't rate that until I know for sure.

J. A.J. A.: Camera is the size of a beer can, plus the sun hood. That may help if you want it to be seen. No directions included, so I figured out you have to slide the sun hood off to find the battery compartment. Camera looks fake up close as you can see that it's plastic. The higher you mount it, the more real it looks.
Despite what the description says, you cannot mount it from a ceiling because there is no threaded hole on top of the unit, and you don't want to hang it upside down. So you must mount it from a wall or a flat base. If you really need a ceiling mount, drill a hole into the sun hood.
Real I/R cameras do not have a flashing red light. If your local thieves are smart, you might want to skip the batteries and leave the flashing red light off. Real I/R cameras have a solid (not flashing) red glow from ALL the I/R lights (not just one), and they are off during daylight, and come on only in the dark. So there's nothing realistic about the flashing red light. It does grab attention, but only someone unfamiliar with I/R cameras will be fooled. For the price, it's a good item.

Scott Sheridan: You get what you pay for. They're okay for the money, I suppose. But there are major flaws. These take two double AA batteries. Since the sign (the accompanying sticker) says 24-hour surveillance and these are intended to basically be on pretty much all the time, how long do you think 2 AA batteries are going to last? My guess, not long at all and you'd end up replacing batteries quite often. Also, there's only one barely noticeable red LED that lights, which is difficult to see when the sun is shining on it. Furthermore, the other clear LEDs are only dummies. Why not have an on/off switch for the red LED to conserve battery life. And why not use working clear LEDs rather than dummies that couldn't be seen anyway. Probably should have used batteries that could last weeks at a time before having to replace them or powering them through a usb port. Lastly, the top piece which slides over the base of the dummy camera doesn't stay on -- it's very poorly constructed. I had to use tape to hold it together. You can't glue it because you'll need to get to the battery compartment which sits underneath the cap. It's difficult for me to recommend these. Id say they're worth about $10-$12 at...
