MySpool Power Failure Detector with Text Message and Email Notifications

curtis barnett: The first unit I purchased and placed at a mountain home has worked flawlessly. I bought another one to put at a camper at a lake campground, I have had it installed for about 2 weeks now and keep getting power out notifications when the power is not out. I know the power is not out because I can pull up a camera and see a ceiling fan still running. Have tried resetting several times and will still get power out notifications.

silverwarrior: I spent a lot of time noodling around with the wifi setup. The instructions are clear and you want to follow them to the letter, as well as writing down your device number for registration. Set up your account online before you finish setup. Ultimately, I shut it down for 24 hours and started again with success after the second time. The only problem I see if having to do the same thing over and over, as if the wifi was hard-headed. Danged challenging, but the victory has been sweet and the performance verified.

JetJock: Last year I had a GFI pop that powered a stand alone freezer and I lost big $$$ on ruined food so this device is giving me peace of mind that I don't have a repeat of that disaster. I will admit that this works only if you have battery backups for your modem and wifi to keep the internet running during a power failure (my house is fully backed up with two Tesla PowerWalls) but I still want to know if that outlet decides to quit again.

Wingz: I own 3 of these and they are simply incredible. Total peace of mind!

I have one on our pump by our basement door, one on our emergency pool drain pump and one in the garage for the circuit for the refrigerator and freezer.

We have a whole house generator, but I have had situations where when switching over to generator, or a close lightning strike, a circuit or GFCI has tripped. With these devices, I receive an email / text alert when, or if, that should happen, and I can alert a neighbor to reset the circuit.

Great peace of mind for us. Inexpensive assurance that all is good at home whether we are at home, or traveling.

RBMTS: I purchased this power failure detector to monitor the power status of our motorhome coach. We have dogs that are sometime left in the coach while we go shopping or eating. During the hot summer days I wanted to know if the power failed that would prevent the air conditioners from running causing great harm to them. There are other commercial solutions on the market but they are expensive and require a subscription. We have a WiFi hotspot in our coach that can run on an internal battery so I don't need to have a device that requires a cellular data connection. The MySpool detector box works perfectly. It took only a few minutes to setup my box onto my WiFi and create an account with them. When testing to be sure that everything is communicating, I get a text notification on my phone 30 to 45 seconds after I pull the power from the detector box. When I plug it back in I receive another text message in the same time saying that power was restored. The detector has worked every time and gives us great peace of mind when we leave our motorhome to run errands on a hot summer day.

Gord Hanson: Product arrived along with clear instructions. I would advise you make a note of the device ID, since if it does not automatically register under your account, you need to reset it and go through the process again to attempt manually adding to your account using that device ID.

The initial setup was straight forward and easy. It connected to my wifi and I could see it on my network.
But as I mentioned, the device would not register under my account at MySpool. I tried the manual registration and it did not work either. But an email to the support group did the trick and they added it to my account.

Since then it has worked great and I get almost instantaneous notification upon power loss to the device. Worth it for the peace of mind knowing the fridge is monitored.

luke: Heard a lot of great reviews from this product. However I can't say the same . Maybe I accidentally bought a defect but seller gave me a refund so I will give it another try .

Me: This is the one to get. It works exactly like described and is easy to set up. Comes with clear English instructions. Even sent a follow up email to let me know they monitor its functional and let you know if it’s not working. WOW!

Xuejun: The unit does the job and it works as promised. However, when the WIFI requires a user name/password (in an enterprise level WIFI environment), it could not do it as it only has password input field prompted. So you need a consumer grade WIFI router to work. Otherwise, it is perfect.
