Amazon Customer: First time I used it temp went above 80. I had it set at 76. Turned it off, let the tank cool down, restarted it. Seems to be working fine. Maybe I didn't read it correctly,

Juell H.: I bought this tank heater after 2 failed attempts with other distributors. This one did the trick for my 5-gal betta tank (though I lost my Mars from temp shock from the failures from the other 2 heaters). This heater kicked on when the room got a bit cool and stayed off while it was hot, keeping the temperature balance. I liked that this heater came with 3 suction cups to keep it perfectly upright and discrete. I would recommend if looking for budget friendly heater for a smaller tank.

ElizebethElizebeth: This heater has been working wonders. Make sure you have a temperature reader on both sides of your aquarium so you can see what the actual temp is. The temp gauge on the heater itself works mainly as a way to tell how many degress you want to increase or decrease via the ambiant temp of your home. For example I have mine set on 86 and it keeps my tanks at roughly 80 °.
