eRapta ERT02 2nd Generation Rear View Camera for Reversing and Backup Assistance

Roy B.: I bought the eRapta ERT01 b/u camera to replace the current one on my Silverado pick-up. The install was easy and the instructions were clear. When I tried the eRapta camera with my Kenwood head unit the picture looked better than my old camera. Then I realized I hadn't taken off the plastic protective cover off the lens. When taking off the protective cover it got way more clear than my old camera. I was so impressed that ordered another camera for my other truck.

Sarah and TonySarah and Tony: I ordered this camera as a possible backup to an old generic backup camera I owned that was flimsy and wasn't centered due to the way my car was designed and it was one you can hang off your license plate. Once I received it, it came with all the essential stuff you need to install it. After an hour and 45 minute project where I didn't need one set of wires and having to readjust the cameras position on the license plate holder, and learning basic wiring, the camera worked great on my current touchscreen stereo system. It flickered a bit upon use at the initial start up, but after awhile it adjusted itself. I'm happy I now have a great backup camera that's dead centered on my car thanks to the license plate attachment and it works wonderfully with the way the car was originally wired to my old camera which was easily usable with this one.

Amazon Customer: Bought to upgrade my car. It has lasted roughly two Canadian winters. Decent video quality, though its not perfect

Annoying to install, but considering that the hardest part is making a hole to thread the cable from inside to outside. So basically any backup cam is probanly identical in installation complexity.

Only issue I've had with it has been that the power wire on the rca cable does not conduct well enough to trigger my bew radio's backup cam mode when I reverse.
Otherwise I just threaded a second wire from the light to my radio and it works.
*This issue only applies to my new radio as the previous would switch when it received a signal and did not need a "trigger" cable to let it know when to switch

JohnnyJohnny: Please stay with me as we delve into the details. I specialize in tech reviews. In general, these license plate cameras can be a great buy, yet all brands in this price range face reliability challenges. This means great customer service and ease of replacement are essentials.

WHICH eRAPTA? ERT11 VS. ERT01:
First, be sure you have received the latest design with the all metal bracket. If yes, both are rated at IP69 to keep the water out! Both are considered high res at 1280 x 720 pixels. However, the fact they use standard RCA connectors makes this claim one not to rely on. In real world use, the eRapta’s typically yield a very impressive and sharp image, with quite decent color fidelity, too. Both are also related down to .1 LUX. A lower number is better—meaning they resolve low light well.

Of these two, I suggest spending just a little more for the ERT11 without lights. Cameras like these rely on your tail lights plus their LUX rating. Ask yourself, how many built in car camera have mini LED lights surrounding them? Answer: None. No mini LEDs means one less thing to go wrong and a few users have complained about the ERT01 lights getting stuck in the on...

They asked me to send them a brief description of the issue along with any pictures that I could provide.
