Eheim Jager Aquarium Heater with Thermostat for Optimal Temperature Control

AlexAlex: To start this 50 watt model is about 9 5/8 inches tall. This has the red calibration ring which on mine should be adjusted to match actual temp but I find no need. I just use a second temp reader (in pic) and set accordingly as the set temp says 67 but really it’s around 73-74 I have this on a 10 gallon and while this is longer than most other 50 watt heaters this is adjustable and not a pre set heater which is a nice feature to have. I’ve only had this in the tank for 2 weeks so I can’t say about longevity but can update with any problems.

Geovanny Palacios: This heater is great BUT mine didn’t come calibrated too the right temperature. Make sure you have another thermometer to check the tank temperature and adjust the heater to the right temperature.

Is not hard to calibrate is you have experience with thermometer. They should add a video explain how to calibrate it.

Please make sure you test you water temperature regularly for at least two weeks until you get it to the right temperature, otherwise you will cook everything in your tank.

Other than that this is the best heater for the price and they last a long time as well.

Runs With Pup: I had to adjust this thing several times before it settled and I was starting to wonder if I purchased a dud. After several days of meticulously checking my tank temp with both an old fashioned thermometer and a digital one, and adjusting the temp ring on the heater as per instructions, it finally settled. It's been about 3 months and it is workng great, oscillating between 78.8 and 80.1 degrees. My ideal is 79 and we hover closer to that much of the time. I have a 50 gallon acrylic tank.

Morgan Holm: Replaced a starter aquarium kit heater that had temperature swings of 2 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit. This one stays within a 1 degree.

The Watcher: The media could not be loaded.  I've used several of these over the past decade with zero issues. Currently running 2x 300 watts in my 180 gallon tank for redundancy and they're perfect.

They're tough, blend in well, and function as expected.

Elizabeth Penney: This is the second heater I've bought from eheim Jager, the first one lasted almost 2 years before needing to be replaced and I mostly replaced it as a precaution (weird clicking noise coming from it but it was still heating just fine). Does the job for a good price

Alyssa: Listen, the temperatures aren't exact. HOWEVER, I truly think this is still the best heater!!!! The #1 concern with aquarium heaters is shattering and this one DOES NOT SHATTER if you take care of it! I have bought 4 EHEIM Jager heaters and I have loved every one of them & recommended them to everyone I know!

I use these for my red-eared sliders and one of my heaters has been in use for over 2 continuous years now with no dangerous issues. Granted the temperature is off, I'm sure there is a way to calibrate it but don't even worry about it, honestly. You should have another device double-checking your water temperature with every heater. Personally, I use one of those temperature guns after 3+ years of those stupid breakable in-tank thermometers. (They never last) But, all of my Jager heaters have lasted with no issues!!!!

I know I said that they don't shatter, and mine haven't, but for an added safety precaution, I also buy protective covers for my Jager heaters. They are sold on Amazon too and I'm pretty sure they're around $10. Not only will it have added protection if the heater somehow shatters & it gives a little bit of heat protection for my turtles in...

Stephen A.Stephen A.: The two Hydor Theo 300W heaters I had suddenly became sporadic in heating my 100 gallon freshwater aquarium a few weeks ago. These heaters were about 5 years old. It turns out when I removed them from the water I saw that one of the heaters had burned out (blast mark on the inside glass tube). So I decided to try these Eheim Jager models since the feature of the recalibration function seemed like a good idea and majority of the reviews I've come across have been positive. I ordered two 300W heaters to replace in kind.

Well, when they arrived they were packaged in a very long narrow box. Turns out the heater itself is very long, heater itself is almost 20". As a result it cannot be placed straight vertical in the tank like the previous Hydor. Also, on the box there is a list of what capacity of tank each model of heater wattage can support. In this case the 300W supposedly supports 159-264 US gallons. Normal rule of thumb for tropical heating is 3-5w per gallon. Because of the size of the heater alone I was going to just use one, which I did for the first few days.
