Zane Godden: I read about the detector kit from places like YouTube and online reviews. To be honest I was expecting something good, but I am so surprised how good the detector is.

I could easily filter out the iron in my garden and search for more interesting items - although in all honesty I was chuffed with a rusty nail I dug up! On my first try, in the dark while everyone looked on, I found a copper button buried about 6 inches under the soil. The detector gave a solid indication of its depth, the material and the pinponter allowed me to dig it up with the really nice shovel you get with it.

The shovel is really good by the way. Sturdy and cuts through the earth easily creating a nice clean plug.

No fault of the package, but I would suggest getting a dedicated pinponter too. Although you won't have problems finding treasures, you can save yourself time with a handheld pinponter. Dr Otek also have one for sale from memory.

In summary: absolute bargain and you get everything you'll need as a starter into this really interesting hobby.

Diane: Overall we are quite pleased with the metal detector, we found the original wrought iron house numbers for our property, dating back to the 19th century when the numbering of the street was changed. May not sound much but we were excited.
I think we need to spend more time watching the video as we seemed to keep getting false alarms, where we would get a high reading, dig to no avail, check and get the same high reading then repeat. After around 3 times of this there would suddenly be no reading at all so not sure what we were doing wrong!
Will keep practising!

Mr. C. LineMr. C. Line: I've always wanted to try metal detectoring for many years, so I thought I'd give it a try.
I didn't want to buy a very expensive one at first, so I opted for this entry level Pro kit from DR OTEK.
Order was delivered fast and in a timely fashion and well boxed.
The DR OTEK MT-XR is a fine beast to be honest, well constructed and easy to assemble.

A very nice strong spade which morphs into 3 different modes including holder.
Headphones (wired).
9v Battery.

The DR OTEK MT-XR is powered by a 9v battery, which would give you a few hours detectoring, but I
bought a lead to eliminate battery so I could attach a power bank which seems to work very well, to give
me more detectoring time. ( bought on Amazon )
I tried out the MT-XR in my back garden, and within 10 mins I found a lucky Irish penny, so it works well in finding coins. ( see pictures )
The display on the MT-XR is very informative, and can be set using the mode function to eliminate certain
metals and even has a depth readout to let you know how deep is the hit approx.

Mr and Mrs Graybush: Heres just some of what I think it does well. Full disclosure Im just a regular dude who has only owned one other cheapo before this. Its super easy to put together, super easy to read, super easy to operate, runs off 1 battery. I replaced the original battery after a solid 10 to 12 hours swinging. Second is staying strong. The battery indicator tells me so. A nice feature. The pin pointer is spectacular to those like me who have never had that option before. And because the price is so reasonable I was able to save up for a Garrot Carrot a week later and the two of them working together is true harmony. Its much lighter then my old prospector and adjusted to fit my arm and swing very well. Im average 5 10 ish. Having the back light for the screen actually got me to finish a session at dusk when I wasnt leaving until I found that darn dime. I knew it was a dime because thats what it told me it would be. The numbering and chart on screen is tremendous again for those who never had it before. What continues to blow my mind is when it picks up coins in a hole shared by a nail or two. Russell J.: First of all, I am beginning detectorist. I did a lot of research. After reading a bunch of reviews and watching a lot of online videos about a bunch of different devices I decided to give this machine a shot. I am not at all disappointed. I am a big "bang for your buck" kind of guy. This thing has the most high end features and best reviews that I could find in this price range. I received my MT-XR a few weeks ago. It was super easy to assemble and seems well made. It is really lightweight and easy to swing for extended periods of time without your arm getting too tired. The aluminum (?) tubing seems strong and the cam locks are sturdy. I put mine together in about 5 minutes. My only qualm is that the 9v battery connector is the old 80's "lanyard" type and not a drop-in style, but even that connetor seems sturdier than normal.
