Amazon Customer: This camera was exactly what I was looking for but you will need experience with removing panels from your car or at least a willingness to watch a few Youtube videos to learn to do what needs to be done to access the parts of your car that you need to and to hide the necessary wires.

I installed mine on a 2009 Honda Pilot which means my rear license plate is in the hatch so I had to cut a hole behind the license plate large enough to put the connector through (larger than a 3/8" drill bit) and then I had to run the wire up the hatch and then down the inside gasket to get down to the backup light to attach to the backup light. With a different car you can probably go a shorter route but going this way required me to splice in a length of wire since the wire that came with the kit was just a little too short.

For the monitor, I hid the wires along the top of the window and then under the dash and then hardwired it to the fuse box so I didn't have to use the 12-volt plug. Doing this step is more advanced so be prepared to watch a few Youtube videos to figure this step out. The picture quality is very clear during the day or the night.

jeff spalding: So I wanted a camera to see behind my trailer while driving down the road, preferably one that would work where my current rearview mirror is, without requiring another monitor to be mounted in my truck. I already have a large screen with GPS etc. and not looking to clutter my vehicle. Also, I don't need a forward view camera and recording features like some high-end options for several hundred dollars. This camera hooks into the pre-fitted Furrion mount at the back of my RV and transmits the wireless signal to the display which straps over my existing rearview. When not towing, I store the display with the trailer, no muss no fuss.

I did have several minor issues, for which I dropped one star. First, I had to manually drill a larger hole into the mounting bracket for the cable to go through, as the existing small hole was too small for the cable, and without the hole, the cable would not fit properly when trying to mount to the Furrion bracket. But once that was done, it works fine. The other (and more significant) issue is that while the camera works great with absolutely no jitter (about 45 feet from camera to display) during the day, at night, the vehicle headlights...

* Good quality built. Solid. The camera is great, clear and sharp, and tough.
*The installing is straightforward in theory, but if you are not familiar with working around your car it would be a challenge. For me, it wasn't since I did this sort of thing before.
* Worked the first time and every time. After installing, I turned on the system and the image popped up. There is a brief delay from the moment you put your car in R, seems like a second too long to compare with what I had before.

Cons:
I cannot use the display as a replacement for my mirror. And this is a unique issue to me, may not be an issue to you. I live in the SW desert where every car is a tint to the maximum legal limit. The back glass of my car is black (looking from the outside). The mirror display of this unit also had a dark tint to it resulting in not acceptable visibility even in bright sunlight (and we always have that). At night, it is dangerous.

I briefly thought of returning the unit, but I finally figured out a way to make it worked. My car was an older Lexus GS300, and I lucked out big time since I can tie the back of the mirror through the inside of the ashtray insert,...
