i like that you can wire it all from the 12v jack or wire in reverse to power from break lights for a more permanent install.

I chose a quick temp install so the 12v jack worked great

pipersmompipersmom: My 2013 Escape had EVERYTHING except a backup camera. I purchased this camera after shopping around town and online. I didn't want anything that had to hook to my electrical system out of fear of voiding my warranty. Plus I wanted something simple, inexpensive and decent. OMG this camera delivered above my expectations. I love the very convenient settings. I wear progressive glasses so images are constantly changing and these settings work like a perfect pair of glasses for my eyes. The best part, and here's the kicker, when I backup at night, there are lights that comes on like a flashlight lighting my path to a perfect park. Time changes next month, that will be extra handy. Though my picture shows a hanging cord, that goes into the cigarette lighter. When my dog get in the front seat, I simply unplug it until I need it....so convenient. The camera's color, visibility, picture quality and clarity is EXCELLENT, better than the factory camera that came with the Camry I once had. Brazuca: So I got this for my 2011 Hilda pilot and had it plugged into the cigarette lighter but it doesn’t turn off unless you click it off. I though maybe it had a turn off setting of like 10 seconds like other cameras do. So that was a little annoying but by far the easier way to get power. So instead I decided to connect to the back up lights (the kit was included) How ever there is no possible way that the kit provided power will reach the front of the car where you plug the he connection for the camera and lcd screen. So I had to buy a 20 ft female to male 12v extension and used the given kit to splice into the back up lights. I had never done any of this before and taking of paneling and running wires through the frame of the care surprisingly a lot easier than I thought. All the wires are hidden and the power successfully pulled from the back lights and it all works. I was able to test it before putting all together and when I finished everything worked as it should. Super easy.

My only issues.

The back up light kit should be long enough to reach the front of the car but it’s not

TJ: I wasn't sure if I wanted the option where a new mirror is just strapped to the old one, but decided to try it to see if the features were okay before getting something more expensive. But, it works great and I'm going to keep it. I have a 2005 Acura MDX, and I took off the panel of the rear door first. I ran the camera wire out through one of the license plate lights and up the frame to the top, where I ran it into the headliner and up to the front for the mirror. For the power, I ran it down the back window pillar to the rear tail light where I spliced it into the reverse light. This worked great for the power supply as well as the functionality. It's new, so I can't comment on longevity yet, but functionality is great. I used some spray paint cans to border my field of view in the back while I adjusted the guide lines on the mirror display, and got it just right.

Clifton: The video quality is great. Installed in a 1999 Jeep where the ‘cockpit’ tends to be a bit crowded with limited space for a monitor. Having the rear view mirror double as a backup monitor is perfect. It is not as visually obvious for someone with nefarious designs. I spliced into the backup light circuit so as to not lose the functionality of the rear view mirror since the camera is only on when I am in reverse. Straight forward installation once you figure out cable routing - which took quite a while in my case but ended up almost invisible when done. Very happy so far.

I am so impressed with how easy this thing is to install. I just plugged it into my cigarette lighter and it works.
The video they say to watch, actually was more confusing than it really needed to be. And so I didn’t even bother.
The Instructions that came with the product were actually very explanatory. With pictures and diagrams.
I wanted my camera to be on all the time so that I could see what was behind me while I was driving, I didn’t bother to use the added cord and plug it into my Tail light for back up only. And I didn’t bother to cut any of the wires because I like the direction the camera faces and I also wanted the night lights to work so I left the little wires on the camera end all intact.
The menu plus and minus buttons are easy to use and I was able to adjust the back up lines for my truck and the width of my camper so that I am confident when I back up. It’s so easy and it is so handy to be able to have your camera off to the side of your vehicle and still adjust it so that your lines are center.
A really great product for the price!

Kevin: Finally got around to installing this in a Honda S2000.

To keep this review short, it's a decent reverse camera for the price but the picture quality/resolution could be a lot better. I haven't tested it in the night yet but if the quality in the day time isn't terrific then I don't expect the night quality to be great either.

For the price though, it's decent. If I had to do it again, I'd probably spend a bit more for a higher quality reverse camera.

INSTALL
Just tossing a few installation tips since the instructions aren't really that great.

Honestly the install was fairly easy if you're somewhat experienced with electrical connections.
You will need to find a way to fish the wire from the backend of the car to the frontend of the car. Many online forums should be able to assist with. For S2000 owners, there's a thread on S2ki. Look up DIY - backup camera s2ki on google.

In my opinion, DO NOT USE the T-tap connectors provided. They are garbage and won't splice through the wire enough even if you use all your strength lol. I used the T-taps at first and the camera wouldn't turn on at all. I then removed the T-taps and saw that the T-tap...
