Gary H.: Worked good in my setup but without adding the amp. The amp seemed to degrade the signal and it may just be my location. I would probably buy the next one without the amp it did nothing to improve the signal in my setup.

Sheila F. McCantsSheila F. McCants: This is a great antenna. I purchased 3 of them and the reception is great. However, the Florida heat disintegrated them in the window, which is where I got the best reception. If I lived in a different climate, this would be a 5 star review.

Ole Salty Dog: This indoor antenna was a cinch to setup and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and amount of channels I picked up local to my area. I easily pickup all 45 channels that AntennaWeb says I should get for my area. I love not having to worry about cable and having the free over the air channels with this 1byeone antenna and an inexpensie streaming service like Hulu or Sling satisfies all my viewing needs.

Don't answer if you don't know.: First off, use the TVFool website to see what OTA stations are available in your area (enter in your postal code or zip code, then do a search). I live about 25 minutes north of Toronto, Ontario, so I knew that there were at least 30+ free OTA TV channels from Toronto and Buffalo that I'd be able to watch if everything worked out. Unfortunately for me, this small antenna had to be placed on an inside wall facing AWAY from the broadcast TV antennas that I wanted to catch. This of course was far from ideal. I knew that I'd loose quite a few channels mounting it that way, but I had no choice, because the bedroom TV that I wanted to use it with, is located on the opposite side of the house, and that room didn't have a coax cable from the home builder going to it that I could have used to extend/relocate the antenna's amplified white box and the rectangular antenna array to a better location. Anyway, I plugged the antenna into the 'ANT/Cable' connection on the back of my Hisense 50" TV, and used a small 5v power brick to supply the needed power to the amplifier's white box. Please note, the TV already has a built-in ATSC tuner, and you NEED this type of tuner or else this antenna (or...

GaryP from Ottawa: NOTE: the on/off switch is reversed on this product. The signal amplifier is actually powered when the switch is in the OFF position, which is why you get more channels with the switch in the OFF position. The on/off sticker needs to be reversed.

I live in the east end of Ottawa (Orleans) in a wood framed house. Previously I was only able to get six channels over the air (4,6,13,24,30). I installed this antenna in a bedroom upstairs on a book shelf about 2m from a window. I now get twelve channels: 4-CBC-en, 6-Global, 9-CBC-fr, 11-CHCH, 13-CTV, 14-Omni2, 15-CTS(YesTV), 24-TVO, 30-CIVO, 32-CHOT-TVA, 43-CHRO, 60-Omni1. So this is a big improvement. Also the picture quality is excellent.

The antenna is very light and looks stylish. The power supply and all cables are provided.

The reason I mention the wood frame house above is that we also tried this antenna in an apartment building with concrete walls. The apartment unit was located in the east-end of Ottawa and faced east, that is away from the main broadcast TV antenna at Camp Fortune. We were not able to pick up any channels. You would have the same issue with ANY antenna. The TV signal cannot penetrate all...

selfbuilt: I've bought a number of these amplified HDTV antennas over the years, and was intrigued by the low price ($13 CAD) of this "latest 2020" model. But really, this is just a standard 2018 model, heavily discounted in price. Performance of this "50 mile" antenna is slightly below my early 2019 model "60 mile" model, and well below by new true 2020-model with "130+ mile" range.

Where I live (between Toronto and Hamilton), I can actually pick ~35 channels (most from Buffalo) with a good antenna. With the true 2020-model, all 35 come in very stably. My old 2019 model could only get ~2/3 to 3/4 of the channels reliably (and only with good weather). This model picks up a few channels less than that. Although all the ratings are inflated, I would rate them as the "50 mile" < "60 mile" << "130+mile".

That said, it is still very good value for money - but you would be better off paying the extra $15-20 to get a true 2020-edition ("130+ miles")

Pros:
- Low price
- Quality-looking cabling, and a good overall length

Cons:
- Large and inflexible, heavier antenna (i.e., about 13x9 inches, vs ~8x8 inches for newer models)
- Oddly requires a power...

Martin D: Basically, it worked out for me. However...

The amplifier is useless for me. At first I was receiving 80% of the available channels with good signal with the amplifier off. If I turned the amplifier on, those channels do not work anymore (I guess that the signal becomes distorted). I was hoping that the amplifier would allow me to install the antenna in a less-than-perfect location, but this turned out to not be the case.

By the way, the antenna still need to be powered on even if I don't (can't!) use the amplifier. This does not make sense to me. And if used as a DVR input, that means that the antenna cannot be powered by a USB port on the TV, it needs an always-on supply.

Finding the right position for the antenna has thus been a less than fun experience. My final setup is with Nvidia Shield + Haupaugee WinTV tuner, but that setup provides absolutely no tool to measure signal quality. So I installed the Haupaugee tools on a PC. From there I could launch a scan for the available channels (which takes a couple of minutes) and retry until all available channels showed up. After that, I could use the signal level tool and browse through the channels at each...

Grant Wilson: Paid $30 (Canadian) and had few, if any, expectations. Mostly, I purchased this item as an inexpensive “experiment “ because I am sick of paying over $100/month for a “Less than top-tier cable package “ from my local provider. Arrived in two days...check. Super easy to connect to your tv’s coax/cable socket...check. Twenty feet of inline cable...check. Here’s where it gets challenging. Everything you’ve read, heard or viewed on YouTube about antenna placement is spot on. The number of channels you receive WILL depend on where you place the antenna, but also how far you live from some of the broadcasting tv towers etc. I get 12 channels...not many, but it’s FREE! Picture is beautiful...uncompressed signal from Over The Air transmissions are lovely, especially if you have a decent quality television. It is not the most attractive item, and it will look positively ridiculous and out of place in some people’s settings. That said, I would caution people on the need and/or use of the amplifier. Now, I’m not a subject matter expert, but here is one major tidbit about engaging the amplified section of this or any other unit: AMPLIFIERS DO NOT BRING IN MORE CHANNELS....

Uncle Geek: Look at the number of reviews from people who have these things working. They're not junk and they do work, but they're not magic. I have two of them working in our home--paid full price--and if they didn't work for my wife, this would not be a fun place to live. Follow the setup directions and see what you get. If you get confused, it's not a big surprise. I had to use my nerd-to-hillbilly translator. Figure out what each instruction REALLY says. I'm sorry about that. If one of your grandchildren can program a VCR by reading the instructions, get on the phone and ask what kind of pizza should be waiting when she/he gets to your place.

Had company tonight. Wanted to know about it. The folks could see it was working. My advice was to go to the website mentioned in the listing and see what they MIGHT get in their neighborhood. Then plan on: it's tedious, frustrating, and finicky to get it started. I tried every possible place in the living room, every wall, every window, with no real success. Threw it down on the table so I could read the directions again--and when it was there, it started working. Moving it will change its behavior. Check the channels it will get every...

Linda A.: UPDATE 10/25/2016: I cannot get more than 70 channels anymore. Of the 70, maybe 5 are in English and aren't shopping channels. And I get only one major network. So this product doesn't work for me in the end. I tried moving the antenna 50 different times, which only resulted in using more doublesided tape and a lot of tape residue all over my window.

UPDATE 10/18/2016: The antenna was inadvertently moved and now for the life of me I cannot get more than maybe 70 channels, most of which are NOT major network channels. At this point I'm rather disappointed and have spent a lot of time experimenting with placement and am getting about 1/2 of the total channels as before.

I decided to finally cut the cable cord and bought this antenna as a similar type came highly recommended but this one was considerably less expensive. I live just 20 miles from downtown LA so I figured the 50 mile radius would be more than enough. Perhaps 20-30 miles would have been fine, or even rabbit ears.

Either way, at last search I had 124 channels! Mind you, it's important to search and search again and again and again and move the antenna around, up and down, on its back, flat, on the...
