Stromquist: On our first camping trip in our new-to-us motorhome, we noticed that the old TV antenna leaked around it's crank when it rained, which was especially bad because the crank was directly above my wife's seat! On our way home we hit a wind gust and then heard a lot of rattling around up on the roof. After stopping and making a hot climb up on the roof I discovered the old antenna and mount hanging on by only a very rotted out antenna wire. I cut it loose and drove home. Next day I ordered this antenna and a mounting plate to (as I told my wife) "fix the leak." Nice to say the leak is fixed and our new TV now gets a good signal. The only thing I did wrong with the install was to not test the antenna install "dry" before sealing it down with lap seal. Due to a poor antenna connector, it was totally dead on the first try, causing me to remove it (a sticky mess) and fix the wire. On the second try everything worked well. Perhaps we can give a real test on our next trip.

Read Economics All the Time: A direct replacement for what was OEM installed on the 2018 374TH Grand Design toy hauler. It picked up 60 channels when tested., The original one is somewhere on I-95. Still trying to figure out where it blew off, but the mount was intact. Only the swivel antenna piece went bye-bye. Very easy to install new. Read the directions several times so as not to screw it up. Easy, but must follow procedure.

James B.: Where I have read that installation may take 1/2 hour, I would defy someone to do just that. I spent more than six hours total, mostly removing the batwing from my Winnebago Vista roof. And make sure you purchase the mounting plate with this antenna, and have on hand at least two tubes of self-leveling sealer available and ten or more screws to hold it down. Once it’s installed, it does work as advertised.

John: We purchased this antenna to replace broken one. Installed it plugged it in. Did not work. Did not want to take it apart again on the roof. Had it sealed! Took it apart on the roof and found out thru testing the coax wire was defective. Lucky we had saved the other coax wire we had from damage antenna. It worked! If I wasn't mechanically inept nobody would have been able to figure it out. So I suggest you test before installing. Normally 20mim job became 1hr or more. Alot of cursing was involved. Antenna itself works great!

Mooseman: OK, it's better than the original fixed, supposedly omnidirectional, antenna however have trouble with the signal meter. Tried the attenuation and I can't get a precise direction. And I one time could SEE the transmitting antenna, maybe 15KM away across a lake, and I just couldn't pick up the signal at all. What also helps is getting the direction with the signal meter, after doing the channel scan and tuning to the station, if the signal is weak, try turning the antenna while watching the TV. And I also like that I don't have to worry about lowering the antenna before moving. One thing though is that it may get obstructions from roof mounted accessories like the A/C, which the old Batwing was good at clearing. Mine is mounted right behind the A/C and may effect reception depending on direction it's pointed. I would still buy this one though.
