Stephen K: This is very, very close to what I was looking for -- a weeder that kept me off my hands and knees while yanking the many weeds from our yard, since I hate using herbicides. It's sturdy, simple, well-made, and does the trick efficiently, going as deep to the root as muscle can provide. The reason for the one-off star: it's short, roughly four feet. Even though I'm 5'6" -- short myself -- I still have to bend over a fair amount to make the "physics" of the whole thing work completely to get the weed out. Still, well worth the money.

Busy MomBusy Mom: I received this product and was excited to put it right to use, been meaning to make the edges of my lawn to look as nice as the neighbors. Opened the box, took a close look, looked good, looked sturdy. So I went right to it, had put a little effort into it, but all and all, not bad. So I kept working on edging the side walk, and then it became very hard to push, thought ok, some grass got stuck in there, well that was not it, the "self" sharpering device used to clip the grass bent right into the wheel, that was not a good sign, I carefully bent them back and that was very easy, ok another bad sign, the metal on these was so soft that it was easy to bend. So I went at it again, seconds into it the bent again. Well, right back in the box in hence it came and I returned it right away. I had a gas powered edger, for about 15 years, had flipped and changed the blades once, thinking I will buy another one of them, even though my job is small. Not sure why some of the other reviews gave positive reviews here, I would recommend you look elsewhere.

Janice Hardy: It's a LOT of work to get things into shape if you have let it go a while. Our grass was 2 to 4 inches over the driveway and sidewalk. Getting it all cut back was an insane workout. However, as promised in some of the other reviews, now that it's under control, keeping up with it is easy and fast. It really cuts the grass back easily once they are trimmed.
We got this because manual lawn tools cost less then a Gym membership and It'll get used every week unlike most gym memberships :) Plus I did not want to have yet one more gas engine to care for by getting one of the big power edgers like I had in the past.
Don't forget to order some gloves with it!

SILVRCAT: This tool works well. I've been able to remove bad weeds very comfortably while standing up. The piercing tip is not as edged or as detailed as smaller weed removers (normally the ones you use on your knees) however it still does the required job well. Some advice: Try watering the soil a few hours before removing bad weeds, it makes it much much easier.

Stanley Kevan Tisshaw: More reinforcement/permanency on metal prong connection to wood handle. It bent in first 15 min of use. I taped and glued the red cone connecting the metal business end prong to the wood tight. Seems to be OK now

Dale M Lee Jr: I hate dandelions.
I have used this long handled weeder for an entire season (2013 Spring, Summer, and Fall)
This weeder is easily sharpened. This will ensure a long and productive service life
The long handle allows me to create more force and leverage as I visit death upon the intruding dandelions and other unwanted and troublesome weeds. Also, the Long Handled Dandelion Weeder allows me to extract them from my lawn without stooping. Thus, I prefer it to short handled weeding tools.
Furthermore, it allows me to easily turn the dandelions upside down as they are severed from their roots.
As I work in my yard and see the dandelions' white undersides, it is almost like a flag of surrender and it gives me a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment as I survey the path of havoc wreaked upon the unwanted intruding dandelions.
The cost is reasonable and the performance is excellent.
My favorite feature is the long sturdy handle as I no longer have to stoop to the dandelion's level as I unload a severe case of dandelion loathing whupass upon them.
Be gone dandelions, your intruding and unwanted sunlight stealing ways are not welcome here. No longer will you be a...

Russ Wentz: Spent an entire day crawling on my knees in my back yard, pulling fast-spreading little weeds and crab-grass groupings, from a new lawn I planted in Fall. I decided to purchase this model for the long-handle design and it's my favorite yard tool American Manufacture AMES(True Temper) (est. 1774). Works better than I expected and Classic American Made Quality too! The handles wood grain is completely clear and tight grain with a sharp hardened weed-pulling end. Without stooping, I am able to pull these small obnoxious weeds without pulling the grass around them.
So happy I purchased it. Great investment.
