Mags: This product is sturdy and should not break at the join. A few manufactures of this type of tool have very weak necks.

Ian P: This is a well made, sturdy tool that is far superior to the flimsy cutters from some of the larger and perhaps more well known brands. The only reason why I haven’t given it 5 stars is that the cutting blade could really do with being a bit sharper. I’m a 200lb+ bloke and so able to exert a fair amount force yet can still find it a little harder work than should really be necessary to cut into more compacted turf with this tool. The only benefit of the cutters from other manufacturers is that their stainless steel cutting blades are thinner and sharper so do penetrate a little easier - they don’t last but are easy to use while they do. So, overall, the Bulldog edging knife is great and still a much better buy than others I have had and used. However, it could be better still if the cutting edge was made sharper in manufacture.
