Paul Phelan: If you’re edging without one of these, you’re working way too hard. My father-in-law has one and I borrowed it, knew right away I was going to have one hanging in my garage asap.

Sakura: I really wanted to edge around my driveway and sidewalks, but for such a small space, I didn't need an expensive edger and didn't want to deal with charging batteries knowing they'll eventually stop holding a charge and will. need to be replaced (more expenses) or dealing with a smelly gas-based model. This manual edger got the job done! Make sure you only do this after a good rain. Not only is it more difficult on dry ground, the results won't be as clean.

This one feels very durable and the handles are more ergonomic than other versions.

spliceguys: This is a great way to cut edging in grass except for one thing. The edge is not a sharp edge, so you are relying on it being thin and applying pressure. It is very well made and strong. I have St Augusting grass and I was hoping to use this as an edger for the entire perimeter. It didn't work out so well for that, so I've gone back to using a string trimmer. But, if you are going to cut a section out of a lawn it will work perfectly for that.

BKSO: Have a weed wacker that doubles as edger. It (sort of) does the trick. I bought this as a way to do a higher level (less frequent) edging job in conjunction with the weed wacker. My neighbors wonder what the heck I'm doing all the time. I actually enjoy using this. It's pretty easy to use. I also enjoy the mini workout it gives me. This may not be a fit for somebody who has major health issues. However, if you do you own mowing, you can easily use this tool. I don't use it so much to cut the grass that goes over the edge, but more so to push it back (and some dirt) so it give a very distinct gap which looks pretty sharp. I can't really a positive or negative review if it were my only way to edge. The weed wacker is much faster and does a decent job of trimming grass growing over the edge. But as I mentioned, when I do use the tool every month or so, it makes the edging look that much better.

Bruce A. Robb: My wife and used this to clean and define the edges of our driveway and sidewalks. This tool is gentle on the concrete whereas power edgers can chip or break off pieces of it.
It’s best to wear work boots or hard soles because you may have to step on the top with all your weight. Just depends on how dense your soil and grass is. Mine was very dense and hard but the blade cut through with a good stomp. Then you just rock it side to side before pulling it out. I continued all the way down one side being careful to keep the blade parallel with the sidewalk. The cuttings may or may not pull out easily. Mine did NOT. It had been several years since this was last done so the roots did not want to let go. My Co-Captain went behind me and used her garden trowel to free them.

If you’re a power tool guy you don’t want this tool. If you’re like me and enjoy taking your time, being outside, listening to nature and sweating and getting dirty., this tool is for you.

This edger is solid and built well. It’s going to be even better next year.

BTW. I’ve noticed more strangers walking by our house recently and we’ve received a compliment or two.
