Ashley: There was some redundancy in the writing, perhaps to remind the reader of each character, but overall an enjoyable story.

Mac: A great first half, full of intrigue, with flawed characters hiding secrets. I was totally engaged. But, the second half was as if a new author took over. As secrets were slowly revealed, the book edged into proselytizing. The happy endings for all seemed forced.

Laura DeNooyer-Moore: It’s risky to reveal the truth behind your struggles, fears, and anxiety. What will people think? And Jett, Lexa, Chuck, Ed, and Coral have plenty to fear. Alone. None of them have a clue about the others’ fears and troubles.
The story’s unique premise, title, and cover drew me in, but if they hadn’t already, the first chapter would have. Two of the main characters inadvertently meet in a Manhattan jail—consequences of a wedding brawl. I was thrust into the middle of their lives. Soon after that, the anonymous Fifth Avenue Story Society invitations arrive. Next, five supposedly random people are sitting in the library’s Bower Room on Monday night. Nobody knows why.
They all have their problems. Literature professor Jett Wilder still loves his ex-wife, is still grieving his brother’s tragic death, and is under deadline to finish his book about an admired author who might be a fraud. Lexa has proven herself at the hamburger corporation and could run the company if given the chance. Chuck’s ex-wife won’t let him see their six-year-old twins whom he desperately misses. Widower Ed wants to pen a memoir about the love of his life and their perfect...

Nicole Ollenberg: Hauck created relatable characters that drew me in right from the beginning! The premise behind the novel was such a wonderful tale on getting five diverse people from different walks of life working towards a common goal. Their growth and healing as they open up and learn to be vulnerable is inspiring. Highly recommend!

Judith Lavoie: Characters and set-up rather forced and unrealistic. Unexpected religious component

Julie: Excellent development of each character, but religious connotations spoilt some of it

M A Martin: As I have said before when reviewing a book, I love a book with a unique plot. So many books use similar plots and dialogue so that you have deja vu. I assure you, The Fifth Avenue Story Society is not one of those books.
Five individuals receive engraved invitations to attend the Fifth Avenue Story Society: an elderly gentleman who has lived in the same co-op for almost 50 years and is now the super; a young college professor who teaches in the literature department and who is the ex-husband of another of the invitees; a young woman who has worked as an executive assistant for 6 years doing everything from clerical work to work that should be done by an executive for a fast-growing hamburger chain and who is the college professor’s ex-wife; a young woman who is the CEO of a world-wide cosmetics company and who left her fiancee, the Prince of a small European country, at the altar; and a handsome, divorced young man who drives for Uber, has 6 year-old twins to whom he can’t be within 500 feet, and who got to know the college professor while they shared a jail cell after a brawl at a wedding reception. None of them knows why they received the invitation or from whom it...

Andrea Hutchison: The Fifth Avenue Story Society was a pleasant surprise. I was immediately drawn in and couldn’t stop until I learned all of their stories. I bought it on a whim, and now I need to find more books by Rachel Hauck!
