If you don't use your grip muscles regularly or train them, even the 30lb ring is enough to tire out your muscles relatively quickly. So don't be mislead. People say extension, exercising the opposite muscles, is important. It probably is. But, using these for extension feels reminiscent of getting your hand stuck in a pickle jar. I'm not a fan of that aspect. You could use a glass jar just as well, but the ring is already in your hand from doing squeezes.

James Ellsworth: I LOVE this set in comparison to the many other grip exercisers I have used over the years and LIKED. I use grip exercisers to relieve tension, to maintain forearm and wrist and finger strength and to work finger joints and tendons. Just in the last three months I have purchased and used (and reviewed for Amazon customers) Theraband graduated twist bars, graduated 'egg' grip and finger exercisers and now these. In the past I have made regular use of Theraband's silicone band powered frame grippers, the spring-powered 'pliers' type grippers and the brass instrument-type finger tip plunger exercisers. Shoppers will get satisfactory results from any of these options provided they are made by a quality manufacturer.
I agree with another reviewer that a choice of one of these Iron Crush grippers is easy to 'take along' in a pocket or to pull out of a desk for workday use where the mind and eyes are occupied and the hands are free. The Chinese silicon is of good quality and, due to differences in formulation, each ring does have a noticeable difference in resistance. Cleaning/sanitizing these rings is easily done. Differences in resistance hold up after each ring has been 'warmed...

Brian: It's difficult to say that I 'love this' because they're hard but they're supposed to be. I recently started working out and noticed that grip strength was a problem when I lifted weights. My trainer recommended getting stress balls or hand trainers and I found these when I was searching. They come in sets of 3 and I bought this lower resistance set and the higher resistance set since I wasn't sure which level I'd be at. I started at the bottom (the yellow 30 lb resistance) and have now moved up to the 40 lb resistance. I haven't even touched the more advanced set yet. The rubber is firm and comfortable (as much as can be). I do need to take off my wedding ring when I use these but I do these at my desk and I'm done in a matter of minutes. There are 3 different exercises you can do with them. The first is the one in the picture where you just use your fingers to smash it into your palm. The second is doing the same thing but using your fingertips only (really hard!). The last is putting all your fingers inside and pushing outwards. It doesn't budge at all but they say it's supposed to help your hand strength. I didn't find it useful or rewarding so I only do the first 2 and about...

Sena Bak: Amazing quality. As soon as I opened the package, I just felt they would last very long time, even life time. Soft whole silicon and not sticky at all. no unpleasant smell. I am stronger than average for a woman but I can only squeeze the 60lb one about 5 ~ 7 times at once. I tried the 30 lb, which is quite squish. But if you do it about dozens of times continuously, you need rest. But pinching is very difficult even with 30lb.

Doc Martin: Got this set Friday and I am addicted. I keep the 40 lb crush in my pocket and when I am watching monitors or making rounds, I am using it.
One of the things I like about this set is that forearm exercises are often neglected. These simple rings work famously. As I mentioned, a ring is easy to carry and if you have a hand free, you can work the hands and forearms while doing other tasks.
Simple to use, three exercises pretty much work the hands and forearms. The material provides a solid grip and the resistance seems to be pretty consistent. I find the 30 pounders to be too light for my tastes. I figure that I will be ramping up to the next set sooner than I thought.
The first exercise is simple. Wrap your fingers on along one side, let the other side rest on the heel of the palm. Squueze with your fingers. Hold for a short count. Release. Repeat.
The second exercise is more robust. You hold the ring with the tips of fingers and thumbs and pinch. Again I do a slow pinch and hold. Release and repeat.
The third is the only one that causes me problems - I have big hands and meaty fingers. You slip your fingers in the ring and spread them out. Hold...

Jeff: I wish I would have bought these a long time ago. The 60-80 lb set was a good start for me as I have decent grip strength to start but I also bought the 30-50 lb set as well for more focused grip strength stuff. The 60-80 lb set is solid and pretty tough. If you are just getting into grip training and have no prior experience or grip strength from other sports/training, I might start with the 30-50 lb set. Nevertheless, these items are great and the instructions they sent were super helpful as it showed me some things to do with them that I would not have though of doing. My personal recommendation is to buy both sets so that you can work on things in a stepwise fashion.
