I simply placed an area rug onto the floor (thick fabric works just as well) and put the panels over it. On top of the panels was my mattress, no box spring. And I absolutely love it! The look of it is great, but I give this product 4 out of 5 stars because the fabric used to hold the panels together is a bit "fragile". It didn't hold up too well when I took it out of the package. The panels kept shifting and it was very frustrating but when I placed it flat on the floor, moved it around the room and placed my mattress over it, it was fine. I'd recommend this product!

Verified Purchaser: I was a little scared after seeing some of the reviews, but this product is perfect, and it fit perfectly on my IKEA queen-sized bed. I highly recommend having someone help you install this. I did it myself, but it was very difficult, and I really wished I'd had someone there to help me, even though I am very big and strong and healthy. It's not so much a matter of strength (although that could be an issue, if you are particularly weak or frail). It's more that it will help to have more than two hands to do this, since you either have to hold the slats steady while you slide the mattress into place or you have to drop the mattress straight down. Otherwise, the planks will get bunched up or knocked down. If you are on your own, then slide the mattress into place from the side instead of from the head or the foot or you'll have no chance to succeed.
I got the Queen-size for $39 through Amazon Prime. I would not recommend any bed slats ever be used on any queen-sized bed without a center support, so I think you should definitely get one of those if you don't already have one, no matter what brand of bed slats you use.

Clearcontrast: Queen sized:
Wood slat dimensions: 60in length x 2 3/8in width x 9/16 thick
Quality: Good. a few are a little warped but not unusable.
Bought for use under a casper mattress after buying the Zinus Modern Studio Platform 1500 Metal Bed Frame/Mattress Foundation Wooden Slat Support, Queen . The slats were too far apart and this helped fill in the gaps. Buying lumber nearby actually cost more and I didn't want to use plywood or MDF since they contain formaldehyde. Had to cut down the slats to 58in as these are oversized so they can be cut down to fit most queen sized frames. Then cut the fabric holding the slats together and laid them in between the provided slats from the Zinus bed.
Here is a pdf from the United States Consumer Product Saftey Mission on the dangers of formaldehyde.

James R. Forgione: I bought this product with reservations even though some of the reviews CLEARLY stated that the product was "junk". Since Amazon is very reputable, I knew it could be returned if I wasn't happy! And to say, I was unhappy, you should have been with me when I opened the carton. These bed slats are truly not worth more than $5 at most.
Let's be specific; in all of the reviews I read (and I read almost all of them), nobody stated the DIMENSIONS of each slat. Well, here they are for all to read. The width of each slat is less than 1-1/2"; the thickness is less than 1/2". The length of 14 slats varied by apx 0.25"; some being 59-3/4" all the way to 60". Some slats were partially cracked; some were twisted/warped and some were bowed. Holding a given slat in my hands, I could EASILY bend it to the breaking point . . . and I'm not Superman! It would not hold a mattress and a human . . . it is guaranteed to break.
BTW, a 'typical' bed slat is at least 2-3/4" wide, 3/4" thick and 60" long for a queen bed. After returning these slats, I went to the local Home Depot and purchased some 3/4" x 3-1/2" x 60" long slats for $3.40 each. Even those, as sturdy as they are, need to be...

Rebecca Harper: I purchased this for my platform bed. The original support pieces from the bed kept breaking. I have had this product for a few months and came easy to install with the board being pre-assembeld. I was skeptical initially as the boards were thinner than anticipated and did not appear to be as sturdy as a traditional bunkie board. I am a heavier person and thought that it woukd not withstand nightly sleep. Much to my surprise this product has held up well even with my young nephew jumping on my bed. This product was inexpensive and fit my budget, however has the quality and sturdiness of the more expensive slats.
