Alexander: Originally went with 11-42 Deore, a Goat Link, and 10 speed Ultegra shifters--it was clunky beyond belief, could not tune this combo at all. Switched to this 11-36 cassette, and immediately everything corrected itself and started working perfectly. Great cassette for tackling big hills on a road bike.

GManMi: When you use Shimano 10-speed thumb shifters with Shimano cassettes and derailleurs you get the smooth as butter shifting. Worth every penny for the budget minded.

Reny NavarroReny Navarro: I bought this cassette to replace a sunrace 11-40 on my hardtail..the difference in shifting is really noticeable. I had an xt derailleur with a sram chain and the sunrace cassette. I got the proper shimano deore cassette with the xt chain as well and honestly just that made the overall performance that much better. Shimano never disappoints. I also got and extended B screw for the derailleur to help the chain go up to the biggest cog just heads up. It's also lighter that the previous sunrace cassette. Keep in mind if you are upgrading from a 36t cassette to this 42t you might need to elongate the chain, make sure the derailleur has a long/medium cage and possibly get an extended B screw. If you are not familiar with this terms contact a local bike shop.

The Fix It Guy: Bought to upgrade a Deore 2X10 system with an 11-36T Shimano cassette.
The 2x10 system a very smooth shifting, quiet transmission system.
I've put about 1,500K MTB miles on the bike and had to replace the front chain ring, rear derailleur, cable and multiple chains.
Not wanting to convert to a 1X system, and keep costs down, I upgraded to the 11-42T, 10 speed cassette, being a Shimano product, I was banking on it being just as good as the 11-36T cassette.
The 42T cassette is not as the buttery smooth the 36T cassette, you will gain more range but may be disappointed with the loud bang or thunk as you down shift and the chain drops and settles on the next lower ring.
Update;
Switched chain lube from white lighting super dry wax to rock and roll super gold, shifts are smooth and crisper. I only had one ghost shift in my last ride. Upgrade to 5 stars
