Sine Nomine: I replaced the chain on a vintage Peugeot road bike and the old freewheel wasn't worn too much and shifted great in the shop but when on the road skipped in high gears. After alot of trial and error I was told by a bike mechanic this is common and to replace the freewheel. It now works like a charm.

sol: Glad I am able to find my exact replacement with this 6 speed gearset. Most shops I went to, had 7,8,9 gear cartridges, which I didn't want to run into chain with issues. I just wanted to get the old bike back on the road, without the slipping gear. Bad palls on my old one.

SKogan: Nothing to report, really - the freewheel is imply exactly what I have expected.
P.S. : make sure you select the correct tool for it - the most common one is actually wrong.

JR: My "vintage" bike had a seized freewheel for which the removal tool was impossible to find. Not wanting to replace the entire wheel for a cassette, and amazed that freewheels are now so hard to source, I wanted to buy what seemed like a higher quality freewheel than this one. But this seemed to be the only realistically available 6 speed option. About 1500km later and I love this freewheel. It's way smoother than my original which at the time was pretty high end, and has a good range of gears; i.e., hill climber to flat. I did buy a new Shimano chain with it since both old freewheel/chain had worn together, but the combo of both new works very well. Don't know if it will last 15,000km +, but at this point I'm very happy with it, as it's performing better than the price point suggested.

Kevin Solsten: Because this is a freewheel and a 6 speed, there are few choices for those of us who use this gear set up. The
options are to change the rear spacing of the chain stays on the bike, buy a more expensive freewheel made in
Taiwan, which I have had mixed results with, buy a used freewheel from ebay, or use one of the lower cost freewheels
and replace them fairly often.

Surprisingly, the last is the best option for me. I have had very good luck with this Shimano freewheel with only
one having issues out of 6. Because I ride in the snowy Winters of Maine, as well as Summers, the freewheels
need to be changed after the winter rides. Road sand and salt take their tole on the bearings, even though I attempt to keep the
bike and all its gear related parts clean.

I am quite satisfied with this freewheel since the technology of using freewheels is so out of date. I don't want to
change the rear spacing of my bike to adapt to new technology and this is more than fine for me. The
freewheels of the 70s and 80s were a wonder compared to now (Bring back Suntour and Shimano of the 70s), but I think I am lucky to find a new freewheel that serves me this well.
