Rogue: Used this to trench in underground landscape lighting cable. Cut a small seam through my yard and pushed the cable down to the bottom of the seam. Worked really well and was super fast. You are not going to break this thing.

P. J. WalkerP. J. Walker: In my opinion this beats a powered edger when you have serious overgrowth onto a driveway or path. Less mess and less risk of cutting too far into the lawn because you can’t see the edge of the concrete. This is a solid tool for the first part of the job. Part 2 for me is to use a Ryobi 18V shear trimmer to separate the sod from the driveway with minimal effort, but you could use this edger to scrape it up also. Very pleased with this purchase overall.

Will N.: I broke my first one by trying to use it in hard packed clay. Wiggling it back and forth to get out of the ground was too much stress for the connection point at the top of the blade. I ordered a second edger and waited until after a good rain. Worked very well when the ground was saturated.

Los Angeles Windows: It's built solidly and all in all, a good product that could be a little better. One reason I bought is that it's American made so it's got that going for it as well. There are a few downsides.

The blade isn't ground to a sharp enough degree. It's about 1/8" thick material and I'd say the blade profile is ground to about 50º to 55º angle. Around 25º or 30º would be better cutting into dirt but maybe that would lead to chipping off of the metal or dulling faster. I sharpened the angle of the blade with a grinder so that it would cut into clay dirt better.

The tip could come to a sharper point and is somewhat rounded. I've toyed with the idea of reshaping the blade into a more angular tip but that would lose dig-in depth and will probably instead, keep it sharp and live with it.

One of the handles slips and rotates on the pipe but not a big deal.

The foot placement is fair but it should be somewhat larger for larger shoes and especially for boots.

K. Bushaw: I needed something to make it easy to slice a narrow trench next to a fence so I could install some tall plastic edging.
The max depth this can slice is 6" at its point.

The front step ledge works great for forcing it into the ground.
I tried a couple shovels/spades I had but their blades are a bit curved and not enough room to push them into the ground with my feet because too close to the fence.

It may or may not matter but the whole blade is painted like the stop and handle.
I have found over the years that all metal items work the earth best when scoured bare.
That's the way it is with field plows too.
So, I ground the paint completely off both sides of the blade and sharpened it a bit more.

Not the tool's fault but where I had to slice is fairly wet clay and seldom does anything pull clean our of that.
So, I cannot really say it was totally easy to use but it was better than any other options I had.

I think it is very sturdy.
