Paul T. StewartPaul T. Stewart: Installed this over the weekend to complete my "cut the Xfinity cord" plan and I am getting 51 OTA (free) channels. While most of those I do not care to watch the nice thing is I am getting all the OTA networks, CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox, PBS in HD and they all look great, in fact they look noticeably better (sharper/clearer) than when I was having them piped to my TVs through Comcast/Xfinity X1. I am running three 1080p TVs in the house on this antenna and they all get the same great results.

Region info: I am in the Nashville, TN area. 23 miles north of the Nashville city center, and I aimed the antenna generally south. I did not have to adjust it any more than that. The directions said aiming is critical and you may have to adjust it several times for the best reception, but for me it was perfect the way I set it the first time.

Installation for me was easy though a bit scary that high off the ground. There was a Dish Network satellite dish mounted on the roof by the previous owner of my house, and the pole it was mounted on was the same diameter as the one that comes with this OTA antenna so I just reused that pole. I did sort of drop (toss) the Dish to the driveway...

Coi Laman: Oh man, 20 years of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to watch really low quality cable channels in low definition. My mom, and I used to think that was the only way to live. Well, not any more. I installed this antenna for her and bought her a brand new 32" Philips 1080p LED TV. She is getting 16 channels in crystal clear HD from her east end Toronto apartment location. She is on the fifth floor, facing north. I pointed her antenna roughly to the CN tower, which is on the south end of the city and reception is still excellent and very stable in the middle of the very harsh winter and high winds with gusts of up to 100 km/h. This antenna is tough and very resilient. That was the most important thing for my mom. She is 60 years old and lives alone. She wanted an antenna that she doesn't have to fiddle with every day. Who can blame her?

Sometimes she has some picture breakup or some freezing on 1 or 2 of those channels, but she can still watch those channels without much frustration. I am sure facing north makes things a bit more difficult, but I will try to remedy these issues in the near future with a General Electric amplifier, which can be bought at Canadian tire...

Wilson! I'm sorry Wilson!: This antenna is working perfectly for me. I finally got sick of paying $100/month cable bills for a bunch of junk channels that I never watch. So after a bit of research, I went for this RCA antenna - there are instructions on the web for making your own antenna, but why waste time with that when you can get a beauty like this for $70?

Installation was simple - just fold open the antenna, attach the cable connector, and you’re good to go. I chose to bolt it to the eave of my roof - the included rugged mount will accommodate other types of installations as well.

Once you’ve got it installed (in Canada, don’t forget to visit tvfool.com to find out where you need to point your antenna) and you’ve connected it to your home’s cable connection, that’s it. Set your TV to "antenna" and you’re ready for FREE TV.

I was shocked by the quality - the uncompressed digital signal provides a full HD signal that is absolutely crystal clear, much better than what you get with a paid cable connection. Of course, your results may vary - I’m in Stony Plain, AB, pretty far away from the signal towers, but it still works great. The number of channels you’ll get...

Emily James: After losing patience with a certain company's constant price increases and another company's shady billing department I decided to "cut the cord". I thought it would be nice if we could get a couple of channels for the local news and weather, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune -- stuff you can't watch on Netflix. After running a signal analysis on tv.fool I thought with a small antenna I could receive four channels reliably and was prepared to be happy with that. I didn't want the expense of a huge antenna on a mast (and really those things are pretty unsightly).

I live in a very small town, half an hour away from a small city. There is a broadcast tower about six miles from my house, but that only broadcasts 3 stations, another 14 miles away with one channel, the other broadcast towers are all 40 or 60 miles away. Initially I received 7 channels which I was pleased with, but two of them were choppy and sometimes pixelated; after dark they cut out completely. It was quite windy last night so this morning I ran another scan. I was delighted to pick up 17 channels, all of them with crisp sharp pictures --ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and PBS all of those and more!. Granted, the conditions...

Joseph Siegler: UPDATE DEC 2014: I wrote this back in Sep 2011, and three years and a couple of months later, this antenna is still up in the attic doing its job. My neighbors tree has gotten "leafier" in the last few years, so I have some issues with a few rogue channels, but all the important ones I have no problems with. Great purchase.

Original Review: I had to cut cable TV earlier this year due to money issues, and from about May till September I was operating with good old rabbit ears in the house. When they worked, it worked great. But I was getting fed up of the constant moving of the rabbit ears, or the twiddling of the dial to get this channel or the other. There was some sort of interference inside my house preventing them from working well enough. Once in a blue moon, I'd get lucky, find a sweet spot and get everything, but it didn't last long. I was unwilling to go on the roof for an antenna, so I was thinking about the attic.

I've been around TV for a long time, and my "head" tells me that to get better reception, you need to get a bigger antenna. I figured with a large tree in my neighbor's house, as well as it being an attic, I was looking at something large up...
