artificiallyselected: Disclaimer: I am a coffee snob and I don’t really like drip coffee. I drink homemade espresso for the most part. My wife likes drip coffee and our Cuisinart broke. This Ninja one is an upgrade in every way and is cheaper. Here are some little details that make this coffee maker great: 1) This coffee maker has a removable water tank that you fill in the sink. This is a great feature because it means there’s no dripping water on the countertop. Also, since you aren’t using the carafe to fill the tank, you always start with a dry carafe so the warming plate doesn’t sizzle when it gets hot. 2) There is a button that allows you to control whether the warming plate is on. 3) The filter basket has a large rectangular tab on the side so removing it never causes coffee to get on your hands. 4) It has a coffee spoon built into the tank lid. I can’t stress enough the usefulness of this feature. It doesn’t get lost and you always have the exact right spoon size to make a great water/coffee ratio. It has all the other things you would want in a coffee maker, but those four stand out in the Ninja. I highly recommend this coffee maker.

Jeremiah: I've owned a lot of cheap coffee makers and decided to spend a little bit more this time. After going through what seemed like hundreds of coffee makers and their reviews, I came across this one the Ninja and I'm absolutely satisfied with this coffee maker! I read some reviews that the coffee didn't get hot enough? They might have gotten a bad one, it gets plenty hot. In fact hotter than any coffee maker I've had. Also between the classic and Rich mode settings it's perfect I like mine a little stronger I drink Seattle's Best coffee post alley, it's a strong coffee ground to begin with and when set on rich setting it makes it perfect! as far as programmable for setting it for the morning it's easy, you hit the delay button and enter what time you want with the hour (H) and minute (M) buttons for the morning (a.m.) make sure it's on a.m. and then hit the delay button again and it beeps to let you know it's set, that simple. Once your coffee is brewed it will stay hot for 2 hours as it's default once it turns off you can manually turn it back on by hitting the warm button on the front which I love that feature. I put off buying it a year ago, thinking I'd just replace the $40 carafe I broke on the Cuisinart. Big mistake, but I won't go into that except to say I wish I'd just bought this right away.
Cons after 2 months of use:
- none, really.
Pros:
- 14 cup capacity. Previous was 8 cups. I can now handle dinner parties & my men's group.
- the lid stays on with a latching mechanism. Previous one (Cuisinart) could pop off. And after I broke that one, the replacement lid to the $40 carafe wasn't even included--and the original one (which I saved, thankfully) fit so loosely that I had to hold it on by hand.
- retractable power cord
- detachable water reservoir. Previous one required me to use the carafe, which I didn't think was a big deal, but the reservoir is much more convenient
- non-stick hot plate. Pet peeve is rust. We'll see how it holds up.
The previous, far more expensive coffee maker is embarrassingly primitive compared to this one, which I recommend without reservation.
