Everyone complaining that it doesn't do the job of an air conditioner should go buy an air conditioner!! This does not require a window vent or the cost of an air conditioner...so no...it is not going to cool your whole house. I live in the high desert, and if I keep my windows and blinds closed during the day, and keep this thing clean and keep feeding it ice cubes and fresh water, it does what I need it to do and I think it's worth the purchase. The remote is essential, and all of the settings are nice.
The reason I only gave it 4 stars is that the little meter used to show you how much water is in the tank is junk. I thought that the very first time I filled it up...but the CRAZY cheap mechanism worked so I let it go. However, the first time I took the filters out and cleaned the inside of the water tank, I put it back together and almost killed the whole thing running it on empty. Life is busy...I didn't realize that it had been a long time since I filled the tank...but the cheap plastic water guage says that it's filled to max capacity! Now I have to shine a flashlight into the tank to stay aware of water level.

Airboss58:
The good, fan works well, remote works well, if you live in a low humidity area it works great and cools you down as long as it’s pointed at you. Use the remote to point the fins right at your or oscillate them to get the whole room. You don’t need to have a window or door open for this to cool the room down. It doesn’t cool like a refrigerated air conditioner, it just makes it “feel” cooler.
The bad, it makes an annoying loud bubbling gurgling sound for hours on end. It sounds like a mini Willy Wonka chocolate factory in the unit. It has a tiny little flip door for the water in the back about the size of a matchbox- right next to the 110v power cord wired to the unit. The water level indicator is low tech mechanical float that doesn’t show you the correct water level in the tank unless you bang it on the side ever now and then.

Andy G.:
I am a HVAC technician and I know how these work. I definitely recommend this cooler in a lower-humidity environment.
If the humidity is high this is basically just a fan. And they have given this info. If the humidity is low (50-60% or less) when you are using this, you get a lot for your $. It uses very little power.
The fan is not very powerful and it doesn't need to be for this purpose. In fact a fan actually generates a little bit of heat, so for evaporative cooling a lower power fan is actually better. I like that it's quiet. If you want something that will blow your hair around that's cool too but that's not what this thing is designed for.
I'm really happy with it. It's less powerful than air conditioning for sure, but the cost of running it is next to nothing.

M. Gambrelli:
We ordered this unit with one vague review on the hopes that the Honeywell name would be enough. I agree with most of what a previous user said. We have dry California summers between 80 and 102.
Pros:
The unit is well made
Intuitive and easy to use
Can use ice
Rolls for easy movement
Remote
Very light, can lift it but best to roll it due to the water inside
Cool moving louvers
Cons:
It does give some cool air but we found that a powerful fan gives almost as much cooling as this unit.
We used distilled water because while our water is fine it does get some lime buildup. Distilled water is expensive and this unit uses ALOT of water.
The fan power is not great however we found that if you press the air flow button FIVE times instead of the three speeds you assume it has, you get a more powerful air flow. It would be good for a small room if you have a door nearby to catch the air flow. I think our door might have been too far away for us to get the air flow.
We eventually decided to send it back but we gave it three stars because it works fine but for the size of the unit, it didn't seem to have the punch we expected.

Johnathan: As long as you understand what evaporative cooling is, you'll understand that this thing is pretty good for it's price point. It's obviously not going to be as good at cooling down a room as a portable ac is, but it's also not intended to be and shouldn't be expected to either. It does however absolutely help keep a room cooler if a portable ac is a no-go for you (either because they're way more expensive or because a portable ac needs to be ventilated in a manner than isn't practical for your situation). The ordinary fan function works as intended and the range of fan speeds is more than acceptable. As for the cooling setting, it absolutely works as long as you're using the product correctly. For instance, do NOT buy this product if you live somewhere with high humidity (over 60% on avg) because if you understand how evaporative cooling works you'll know that the higher the humidity is, the less it's able to cool it's surroundings. Also be aware that by it's very nature it will also act as a humidifier, for better or worse. The cooler works best in an environment with free airflow (such as a room where the door is usually left open) but you will still absolutely...
