Juju B.: I bought this a year ago and it worked great. Yes, it adds some humidity, but that's to be expected. I live in sunny CA, so this was not a problem. Fast forward to summer 2023, all of a sudden, the pump won't work. I did, however, notice something I'd not noticed before - a display of 57% rH (relative humidity). Amazon reviews didn't have much info, so I went to the mnftr's website/operator's manual. I learned you can adjust how much humidity you want by pushing the water drop icon. Hold it for 2 seconds to get the the rH settings. Adjust it upward - maybe 80% or more. I adjusted to about 85%, and viola, the pump started!
Maybe I missed that in the product literature, but knowing that one things made the difference between a
still satisfied customer and a scathing review of a product that dies just after the 1 year warranty ends.

tclfc777: Sooooooo….I have a private marksman club membership and many people/members don’t show up to shoot at targets in the sweltering Arizona heat even with the shade ..well here comes the swamp cooler! I can space cool our shooting Bench very very effectively for hours…even if our bay has no power plug. The solar generators come out. Yes it’s a little large but it’s light. Bring bags of ice and lots of water jugs. Let the pump seep the water through the honeycomb for about 5 minutes then turn it on. Sit 3-5 feet in front of it and it feels like a pacific off shore wind is cooling us a solid 30 degrees in the shade. This changes the ability to do things in the heat out here in Arizona. Highly recommend just in case you need cooling ! As low humidity high heat is the best kept secret your money hungry utility companies don’t want you to know about (low humidity heat peeps) every house in my area should be also armed with a solid swamp cooler option for cooling your home until you need to put the AC on. John BettenJohn Betten: This evaporative cooler does a great job blowing a lot of air while being very quiet. I use it on our patio in TX and it’s cooling performance is directly related to the humidity level. I tested it at 35% humidity today and the output air was ~18 degrees cooler and I could really feel the difference! 94 deg air being pulled in and 76 deg air blowing out. This matched up with the table I posted so was a nice surprise. Low humidity is definitely better and above 50% won’t cool nearly as well, but still works ok.
Pros:
- Looks nice, is mobile and not too heavy
- Draws a max between 50W (low fan only) and 90W (max fan, pump on). I run it off a solar charged generator so it’s reasonably energy efficient.
- Price is ok, not great
- Remote is included
- Easy to set up and use
- Cools nicely (in low humidity)
- Strong and quiet fan with oscillation feature.
- Tank holds a good amount of water good for >3 hr.
- Auto fill option works as expected (if used).
Cons:
- Remote doesn’t work beyond a few feet max when unit is in direct sun. It works at a further distance when it shaded. So expect to get up even with the remote.

The last one I had in my bedroom broke, and I started doing research on the best portable evaporative coolers. Hessaire was at the top of every list, so I got the MC26A portable cooler. I bought it because Hessiaire said it was their "The MC26 is the 2nd smallest size and ideal for tight spaces. It features a humidity control and an air sweep function for broader coverage. It weighs just 28 lbs and is very portable. It measures 25” wide by 35” tall. It is our only cooler with a humidity control feature, electronic controls and a remote control." It's pretty big for a bedroom, and would work great on a patio or garage. Thought I would return it because it was so big, but decided to try it our first. It works really well, and is super quiet! It keeps the room very, very cool during the night. It does have some humidity sensor thing or something, but I leave the bedroom windows open while running it.
