HMR BlockheadHMR Blockhead: Skeletal muscle (quads, triceps, biceps, etc) responds to stress (rigorous exercise) over 24-48 hr by taking up branched chain amino acids (BCAAs, L-leucine, L-isoleucine, and L-valine) to serve as precursors specifically to support synthesis of the key muscle proteins alpha-actin and myosin heavy chain. Consume a few capsules DURING workout, but ~5 capsules after workout in a protein shake supplemented with sucrose (table sugar) or D-glucose. It takes >48 hr for muscle to respond by hypertrophy (growth without cell division). This supplement contains 2200 mg of BCAAs per capsule.

I actually watched muscles appear more defined after a gradual loss of body fat within the first couple months of taking this. I had to temporarily switch brands when they were out of stock over Christmas and I noticed the body fat coming back almost immediately. Whatever it’s doing in my body I'm very happy with and I’m glad I was able to get more of this stuff. I split the recommended dose into morning and night for even distribution 24 hours a day. The capsule looks a little big, but because they are a squishy smooth gel cap, they are easy to swallow.

Johannah TreeceJohannah Treece: The BCAA supplements work, I feel considerably better while taking them consistently. I’m less sore and gain muscle more quickly. However, these pills are dangerously hard to swallow. I have choked on them a few times and won’t be buying them anymore for this reason. The last time I took them (one at a time, I should mention, because they are so hard to get down) I legitimately couldn’t breathe, couldn’t swallow any water to help it down, and finally had to make myself throw up to dislodge the capsule from my throat.

So, good product, bad design. I’ll be looking for a powder or smaller capsule to take in the future.

Barb K.: I am 65 and pretty active but I had somehow pulled a muscle when doing some heavy weed pulling and was in so much discomfort I could not go up stairs without pulling myself up by the handrail and had to physically lift my left leg with my hands to get in and out of my car for about 9 months. At first I thought it was a joint issue, but decided it was a muscle since occasionally I could feel it in my knee as well. It just did not seem to be getting better so I went online to research what I could do and just came across info on BCAA. I tried this brand because it had good reviews and amazingly it cured my problem in about a day or 2. I continued to take it for another week or 2 and have had no problems since. I do not take it regularly, but if I ever have muscle issues, I think it is very effective in helping your body repair muscle tissue.
