reviewer now: I recently purchased the Korky 528 Toilet Fill Valve, and I couldn't be happier with the results. One of the standout features of this product is its incredibly easy installation process. As someone who isn't particularly handy around the house, I was pleasantly surprised at how hassle-free it was to replace my old fill valve with this one.

bn: if you don't overthink it, it takes literally less than 10 mins to install.

The only problem i had with it after couple of years was that the tank was not filling up after a flush. The problem was with the drainage hole that house the floater, it was plugged, so the black rectangular housing was full of water even though the tank is empty, preventing the floater from disengaging the water level check and initiate the refill.

You can remove the white top, take out the floater and clean the housing bottom—to unplug the drainage hole. Consequently, if there is a long pause between flushing and refilling, it's the same drainage hole that is obstructed. I wouldn't call this quiet.

All the pieces are plastic, this will last for a long time, just check the drain hole in the casing.

The Other Geek: Features of Korky fill valve:

Once installed, noise level during tank refill is somewhat quieter than the Fluidmaster valve so 4 stars on that.

The Korky also fills the tank noticeably faster than the Fluidmaster fill valve.

The Korky is also much easier than Fluidmaster to replace the internal shut off rubber gasket when that becomes necessary in 5 years or so.

The Korky is more space efficient in these small volume tanks due to the smaller float.

Be sure to insert the white locking tool to assure the water level is locked in.

Problem Area:

I could not get the Korky to stop dripping very slowly on the floor under the tanks after installing.

You are warned to only hand tighten which is what I did. No joy.

I ended up installing several of these Korky fill valves and encountered the leakage problem repeatedly because it is hard to grip and fully tighten the bottom plastic nut by hand in the cramped space. I ended up tightening a few of them with a small pliers to turn the nut an additional 1/4 turn or so which fixed the dripping problem but violates their warning to only hand tighten.

Korky really needs to upgrade...

KT ChongKT Chong: I myself had replaced other toilet parts including a flapper, a handle and a seat, but never a fill valve before. This toilet fill valve took me about 30 minutes to install — including the removal of the old valve and re-adjustments; (i.e., after my first attempt to install this fill valve, a connection was leaking a little bit of water, I removed and reinstalled the fill valve — which was included in the 30 minutes.)

I needed to use a tool (i.e., a pair of pliers) only to loosen and remove the old fill valve. This new fill valve did not require any tool. In fact, its instructions specifically state to use only hand — no tool — to install the valve and tighten connections. The whole process was easy and quick enough. Now I just have to see how long this product will last. It was cheap, so if it breaks, I will just buy another one and install in less than 30 minutes.

Edward: I had a creaky pipe due to a bad fill valve. It would start rattling and often would not turn off the fill for a good 30 minutes after flushing. Just a constant hiss. After research I learened it could be due to a faulty fill device. I actually purchased this one accidentally as my tank used the other style (not the ball fill but one that you can adjust vertically). However I thought I would try this one out and I must say it is incredibly fast and quiet. Where my other toilets you can hear for a good 10-20 seconds after filling, this one immediately cuts off the fill within a few seconds of filling. Maybe 1-2. I was very impressed and satisifed with this product. Well worth the purchase.

Dolce: I installed this as a replacement for the original fill valve in my Toto toilet, which was making disconcerting noises with each flush. Though it took an hour to remove the original valve due to an overtightened nut in a very cramped area, once that was done I had the new valve installed and working flawlessly in under 5 minutes. The nut that comes with this replacement unit is a hand-tightened nut which makes it very easy to tighten and untighten in a cramped area. It thankfully also comes with a piece of tubing to replace the original which had hardened over time and couldn't be removed from the old valve. The included instructions were brief but very clear and simple to follow. The price of this product was also fantastic.
