Kavall: This was by far the easiest thing to replace I've ever had to do with a toilet. There was some conflicting statements about what it fits and makes you get concerned, however if you have the right one of these you can very quickly replace part or all of the flush valve as needed.

Parks T.: I received this product in the time frame specified. Upon opening the package, it was easy to discern that this valve had been previously used, but nothing was damaged or worn in a negative way. I have not returned it because it appears to be in working condition and I need it now. I just do not appreciate receiving a product that was sold as New but is not technically "NEW". . . . . I guess this is what we should expect now that Amazon is dominating the market place.

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: It was reassuring to get the Kohler OEM "flush valve" kit as opposed to a generic knockoff. Along with this OEM part for a K-4418, I got the related OEM "fill valve" kit with float which had small but meaningful difference from the generic universal-fit part that the local store first sold me (and I subsequently returned). For example, the generic kit had a smaller float.
After removing the tank, the hard part was removing the white retaining ring. With some pieces of wood and two clamps, it was easy to construct a wrench to deal with the retaining ring. The lower clamp was the wrench handle.
A point of nervousness was reassembly and tightening down the tank bolts, and wondering how tight to make them without snapping the ceramic base. When the tank is replaced onto the base, it rocks a bit on the big rubber/foam seal, so I tightened just enough that the tank would not rock. The difference between rocking and not rocking was about 1/2 a turn of the tightening nut.

Richkar: This was the second one I have ordered. The t tab on the bottom snaps off if you are not careful installing or removing it. Good valve, works well. Wish Kohler would supply the gasket separately though

Billie: Determining whether I had the correct part-when I ordered. I was fixing and older model toilet that did not have the part number on the tank.

Jhan Wilson: I wasn't sure if it was the right part, but this was a direct fit for my Kohler toilet. I had no idea what the original part number was, as it was not on the part I removed. (However, after I finished the installation, I found that the part number was listed on the BOTTOM side of the TANK LID.) To order, I just looked at the part I removed and matched it to the closest picture on Amazon. Fortunately it worked. Originally, I tried using the numbers stamped in the tank to order the flush valve, but some numbers were faded and illegible. Besides, they weren't the correct numbers anyway. After a quick tutorial on You Tube, I was able to replace the flush valve. It DOES require removal of the tank from the toilet. However, it only required the removal of two nuts (with washers) and disconnecting (unscrewing) the water to the tank. It's pretty straight forward and I'm sure the average person can do it. The only advice I can give is to have a very large pair of slip pliers, or use a plier type oil wrench (as I did) to get the very large plastic nut (about 3 inches in diameter) off the bottom of the tank to remove the flush valve. You'll understand what I'm saying once you remove the...
