Britt L.: This is a gripping novel about foster children. I’m almost sure there are a lot of happy foster children also, but there are also some that are not as happy. Excellent work To me a must read.

ShirleyClark: I have read most of Karen’s novels. She is wonderful. I think her very best is Moonlight Child. It has mystery, surprises and a fabulous plot with very well-developed characters. I have read it once a year for the last 5 years.

jamie: Very well written as always. Great details but not to many. Very well told, a little girl not part of the family who doesn’t know any better, she strives to do her best at keeping everything just the way they like it at such a young age. The older boy has such a heavy heart and huge secret. Little to much to bare to only be 17. Choose between right and wrong or your family. The “mother” is huge control freak, everything needing to be her way and perfect. The “father” is always out. This is a very well written story and makes you think what do my neighbors really hold secrets to. Scary thoughts of this could be happening in my neighborhood right now and would never know! Karen has a way of telling stories that make this so easy to read believe and feel! Will ve reading more of her books for sure!

Staci Popp: I was happy to read this story. The characters were interesting and some relatable. It was a quick easy read and not overdone. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because the age of Mia just didn’t seem believable to me. The time line should have been adjusted slightly for believability. Highly recommend.

Yogita: "The Moonlight Child" by Karen McQuestion is a captivating and suspenseful tale that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. The story revolves around Sharon Lemke, who stumbles upon a peculiar sight of a young girl doing chores late at night in her neighbor's house, a family without any children of that age. Together with Niki, an eighteen-year-old foster child under her care, Sharon embarks on a thrilling journey to uncover the truth behind the mysterious activities at the Flemings' residence.

McQuestion skillfully weaves together elements of mystery and family drama, creating an engaging narrative that explores themes of identity, belonging, and the lengths one would go to protect those in need. The characters are well-developed and relatable, especially Niki, whose own experiences as a foster child add depth and complexity to the plot.

The pacing is excellent, with each chapter revealing new clues and building suspense, making it difficult to put the book down. McQuestion's writing style is fluid and descriptive, effortlessly immersing readers into the world she has created.

Kindle Customer: While a great reading style and talented writer but was no mystery - everything was plain as day from the first chapter. I usually always guess the ending and had so many scenarios but it ended without ending... Could have tied in well with an extra chapter explaining the situation...

***Don't read if haven't read

Expected she would be bought to trial with everyone's real intake to get behaviour (she said everyone loved her but at trial they could've said they just appeised to her whims and thought she was an idiot etc and she realised her truth was not everyone's). What happened to mother and back story. How did the mother of Mia come to the point? Who was the father? What happened in this time? This also could have been the perfect opportunity to advocate for foster caring (which was but more so) and a lot more back story could have been told. The ending finished without ending (which I love IF done properly).

I'd like to read another story from author as she really is a good writer I just really hope there is more of a story and development to characters and mystery.

All in all I could not put book down just disappointed by ending 🙂
