Michael FlorindiMichael Florindi: Replacing Badger 5, Power connector is compression push-in type. Romex is needed to push the wires in. The twist on is keyed. This makes NO sense! If keyed like this, the upper existing twist-on has to be in a particular orientation to allow the holes to line up. I ground the key off so I could spin the new unit where I wanted. It's a little heavy. So hanging it like in the picture allows you to prep the discharge tube and line it up before spinning the unit into place. The SILENT thing is ALL hype!!!! It sounds exactly like the old unit. Last, there is NO Evolution 1.0HP offered in registering models types. Insinkerator needs to wake up. This is a beautiful unit with sorry documentation and information.

Upton O'Goode: InSinkErator Evolution Excel is an Excel -ent choice for folks looking for a garbage disposal that is very powerful and very quiet. This model is the right choice if you have an open concept home, if you do a lot of in-kitchen entertaining, or if you have a main bedroom on the main floor. Our family and home check all these boxes. AND... in our family, the one who does the dishes is a night owl.

We used to have a Waste King, bought here on Amazon ( https://amzn.to/425y80L ). It was noisy enough to wake up sleepers in the main bedroom on a regular basis. Other issues with the Waste King were an occasional jam, as well as needing a lot of time to grind up things like table scraps that can't be composted. Also, really useful accessories, like the Danco Disposal Genie ( https://amzn.to/3NuvSMq ) didn't fit the Waste King. So, when our Waste King started leaking after 7 years of use, we wanted to upgrade.

We checked the usual review sites, and after weeding out the usual nonsense, it seemed pretty consistent that the InSinkErator Evolution Excel was at the top of the list. Reasons include:

Hasta ahora no hemos tenido obstrucciones en la tubería. Las especificaciones dicen que se pueden triturar huesos de res, pero preferimos no hacerlo, ni con semillas de aguacate. Pero los huesos de pollo son fácilmente triturados. Las cáscaras de cítricos, sobre todo de limones, son más fácilmente trituradas en este modelo. Muy recomendable.

Ken: After going through two garbage disposals in eight years, I decided it was time to upgrade. Now the first disposal was a contractor model 1/3 HP, and died when my son cleaned a fish take and got a rock in it.

My Badger 5 with a ½ HP began leaking from the bottom. After a quick look on the internet on how to fix a leaking garbage disposal, I found that if they are leaking from the bottom it's time to replace them. Since the Badger 5 only had a two year warranty and lasted almost eight years I decided to go back with InSinkErator.
After reading many reviews I decided on the Evolution Excel 1 HP model. With a 67% savings it really was a better deal than many of the lesser models even price wise. I ordered disposal on Sunday evening and received it on Thursday (Valentine's Day) just in time to cook dinner for my wife.
Goal: Surprise my wife by cooking Valentine's Day dinner. Obstacles: The InSinkErator didn't arrive until 1:45 pm, and I needed to get it installed, the kitchen cleaned up, and dinner going by 4:30 pm. This would give me an hour or less to get the old garbage disposal out, the new one installed and everything cleaned up if I was going to get my surprise...
