The hOmeLabs Evaporative Cooler is a powerful cooling fan with three wind modes and three speeds, as well as a timer, humidifier, and auto shut off function. It has a 10-liter ice water tank capacity, and can cool rooms up to 200 square feet. This evaporative cooler is one of the best on the market, designed to provide superior maneuverability, performance, and value for money. Product Buyer: I was hesitant to buy a "swamp cooler" in this low price range. I was afraid it wouldn't work (or would fall apart), but I was pleasantly surprised. It's not super-heavy duty, but it's good value for the money.
Pluses:
--------
• It's an upright model, so it doesn't need too big of a footprint.
• It's stylish, doesn't uglify the room, and the louvres close when it's turned off. We call it our R2D2.
• Buttons are easy to use and mostly intuitive, although it's a good idea to glance through the manual and safety instructions before using.
• In fan mode, it works like a propeller fan, cools the room a little bit. In cooling mode, it was able to reduce the temperature in a medium-sized room from 90° to 76° which makes all the difference, bringing it down to comfort level.
• Noise level is acceptable. Every fan makes noise and it's not much different from our old propeller fan, but has the added benefit of water cooling.
• Several settings for fan or cooling, low, medium, high, and a night/sleep mode.
• Water tray lasts several hours even in Cool Mode so it only has to be changed once or twice a day which is acceptable for a unit of this...

Kindle Customer: I live in Central Oregon. It's called the High Desert and it is definitely a dry climate. I live in a 1100 sqft apartment on the first floor. It's been pretty warm this week with several days of 100°+. I ordered this unit based on the price and the reviews. It works like a charm. My living room is cool and pleasant at the hottest part of the day. This cooler has wheels and is easily moved from room to room. It does not cool the entire apartment, but it does cool a fairly large room. It's definitely not as cold as AC, but it is better than using a ceiling fan and an oscillating fan. The reservoir holds about a gallon of water. I've had it in for a full day and had to refill it after about eight hours. I did have it on "cool" the entire time. It isn't very loud. No worse than a box fan. It has several settings and a remote control. I wish I had bought it sooner. I am looking forward to sleeping more comfortably tonight. If you want to cool off your whole house get AC. If you live in a small space, in a dry climate, then this is perfect.

Stargazer Cat: We're in the middle of a record breaking heat wave and, of course, my A/C went out. Just before it happened I ordered this little guy for the second floor of my 112 year old Limestone home with no insulation and single pane windows. The upstairs, which is where my laundry is, gets brutally hot.
But this guy arrived after about 5 days with no A/C, when Temps in the house reached 87-89 degrees. I put it my main floor bedroom instead and it saved my life! The temperature around the bed would get as low as 69 degrees. It does NOT cool a large area, but it cools a small area very well. And it rolls around easily to where you need it.
It is NOT an "air conditioner" -- it is a "swamp cooler." It therefore creates humidity, so it will NOT work in humid areas. We're really low humidity in Utah and this form of cooling is widely used for whole 🏠 cooling.
Another great feature is that the water bin is pull out, easily accessible, and holds a LOT of water so you only need to fill it every 7 hours or so.
Now that my A/C is fixed I'm going to move it upstairs AND buy another one, too. Get one. You'll be glad you did. Over the years, I've bought 2 other more...

MEP: I read the reviews on this product, and for the most part it seemed like it would cool off a small area. I have had the product for 3 days, and the unit is in a 10'X12' room... all it does is blow moist warm air. The first time that I turned it on, I placed 3 ice packs and 2 frozen bottles of water as suggested. When the unit turned on the thermostat on the unit read 80 degrees, within 5 minutes the temp went down to 68 degrees (air was cool). However, the ice melted within 20 minutes, and the temperature rose to 78 degrees.
Again, I am on the 3rd day with this unit, and each day there is a different issue. Either the thing is making weird noises, or now the cooling option is blinking and shuts itself off after 5 minutes. Not to mention, I can no longer get the thermostat to now read below 80 degrees ....WITH all of the ice/packs added.
One last footnote...having to add water all the time is super annoying. After this experience, I would never recommend getting a unit that large which requires filling it with water! Good luck!!
