Protect your home from water damage with Govee Water Detectors.Amazon Customer: I don’t care what kind of water alarms you use - you need water alarms to warn you about leaks and floods. I like these because I get a notice on my phone in case I am not home. It saved me from a leak, so, I bought three more (now I have six)

Kaycan: I wanted to extend system. Sync with hub and works great.

Adungle: It works well as its description, the reason I give 4 stars because the alarm sound is not loud enough.

James Polpiboon: I ordered 4 of the Govee Water Detectors Alarm Sensors for my house. They were really easy to install and I tested them and they worked just as described! We actually ended up having a leak and the sensor went off right away alerting us of the leak. Its nice because there are 3 ways you get alerted - the sound from the device, a notification text, and an email. The only issue I had was that 1 out of the 4 alarms I was not able to install but when I contacted the seller, they sent me a replacement right away and that one I was able to connect easily. I just hope they all last long. Great product and great customer service! Highly recommend!

Pakeha: The Govee water alarm is very relaible - we have them in our large chicken coop building to let us know if there is any issue with our automatic waterers. Sometimes they overflow which can cause flooding in the coops (not an enjoyable experience) and the alarm is loud enough to tell us from across the yard if there is a problem. While the alarm is a highly valuable tool for us, it's frustrating that the screws used to hold the back cover on (where the battery is located) are made of material that rusts. The bottom plate faces down, which is exposed to water if there is flooding. Twice now, I have had to drill out screws that have rusted in order to change the batteries. It would be great if they used metal screws that did not deteriorate when wet over time.

Panda: I used to use detectors that make a loud noise when a leak is detected, but that only helps if we are home. I wanted to be alerted whether I am home or not, hence the installation of this Govee solution which will sound a local alarm but also send me a text message. I purchased a gateway with three sensors, a set of 5 sensors and a set of 2 sensors, so 10 sensors total, the max a gateway will support. Configuration, placement and testing of the sensors was drop dead easy. I configured and tested each sensor at my desk by wetting my finger and placing it across the sensors. I then placed all the sensors and positioned the gateway in the center of my home. I have a 3000 sq ft single story home that is somewhat long and narrow, so I was worried one gateway might not reach all the sensors, and sure enough it didn't. I moved the gateway a couple of times until I found a place where it worked for all sensors, which was toward one end of the house, not the center. All in all I am very happy with this solution, I just wish it supported a couple more sensors. I need to buy another gateway with three sensors, I just haven't done so yet, hoping they will come out with a firmware update that...

Robert A. BunchRobert A. Bunch: We have 5 sensors in house and a Govee gateway too. I love these but although I want to put UNDER the dishwasher to get quick detection, I dread the alarm going off when it’s under a kick panel. A wire sensor on other units would be nice to see as a standard.

Joe T: Purchased these about a year ago, and to their credit, they did help us catch a water leak. The alarm on the sensors is very loud, and the range to the base station is quite good. Setup was pretty easy, though a bit counter-intuitive as it's not done via the app like the initial unit (even though the app shows a sensor in the add device screen).
Two major issues I have with these sensors over all. First, the batteries don't seem to last all that long. The app does show their state-of-charge, however it seems read full until the batteries are almost dead. The app will warn you when a sensor's battery is about to die. This is a very good thing, because if the battery is about to go out the unit's alarm will go off. Have fun if this happens at 2:00 am.
Second issue is more of a nitpick. There is no way to integrate these into into smart home systems like Home Assistant. It doesn't really impact their ability to function, but it would be nice to have automations that shut off water supplies when leaks are detected.

Roberto F.: They do everything as advertised. Only issue is that they’re not 100dB. If you need your sensors to be loud, these are not the ones for you

Tracy: These detectors arrived today, and the one I tested worked fine in shallow water.
Testing demonstrated the alarm isn't super loud - audible on same floor, and probably one floor away unless the house is super noisy. Not sure it would be heard two floors away, especially if sleeping.
What other reviewers have said about the 4 screws securing the battery chamber is true: they are *tiny*. Be sure when removing or putting them back, that you are in a place that will make it easy to find a dropped screw.
I have a 5/64" screwdriver that worked with these screws, manual recommends PH00 or PH0 screwdriver. You have to be careful as the screws will strip easily. When putting the screws back I didn't screw them quite all the way in, to make it easier to remove them in future.
Haven't tested the low-battery alarm yet.
Couldn't decide whether to give 3 or 4 stars. Decided on 4 because with preparation the screw problem is manageable, so the the main issue is alarm volume, and how much that matters depends on your home.
